Neo Sports has complained to the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) against an ad of Ten Sports in which the latter claims to be the No. 1 sports channel. The complaint has been upheld by the ASCI Code and the industry body concluded that the claim in the ad was misleading in ambiguity. The ad has been suspended temporarily.

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has released its report for the period October-December 2008 on ads that were either withdrawn or modified. A total of 29 ads had been brought under the scanner, of which two ads have been withdrawn, five modified, and one already ended as it was an event-specific time bound communication.

Indian agencies put up a strong show at the AdFest 2009, held in Pattaya, Thailand from March 19-21, bagging 27 metals. Leo Burnett India topped the list with 11 metals, followed by McCann Erickson and JWT India (four each), Rediffusion Y&R and O&M India (two each), Contract, Creativeland Asia, TBWA\India and Publicis (one each).

Over 417 entries across 13 categories have been received this year for the Media Abby Awards. The first round of judging for the media awards entries were held on March 16 in Mumbai. Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar Universal and Co-chairman, GoaFest 2009, has confirmed that 77 entries have been shortlisted for the final round of judging. The shortlist will be announced later today.

Parle Agro’s mango drink Frooti has completed a nine-month revamp exercise and is now ready with a new look and campaign that asks ‘Why grow up’. This season, Parle Agro will spend approximately Rs 15 crore on the campaign, starting with a TVC, which has been conceived by team Creativeland Asia and directed by Prakash Varma of Nirvana films.
