Deepak Advertising wins ‘Agency of the year’ award at Kritikar Bhaskar Creative awards, 2008?blur=25

February 26, 2009: Bhaskar Group, India’s largest read newspaper group announced the winner of Kritikar Bhaskar Creative Awards 2008, Deepak Advertising was adjudged ‘Agency of the year’. An Indore based regional agency, Deepak Advertising won a total of 21 awards across different categories.

GoaFest 2009 to be held from April 2-4; registrations open from March 1?blur=25

The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and The Advertising Club Bombay have announced the commencement of GoaFest 2009. Currently in its fourth year, Goafest 2009 will kick off on April 2 and will go on till April 4 at the Cavelossim beach in Goa. As is known, Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT India, is the GoaFest 2009 Chairman, while the committee is co-chaired by Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar Universal, and Suman Srivastava, CEO, EuroRSCG. The other key members of the GoaFest committee include Madhukar Kamath, President, AAAI, and MD & CEO, Mudra Group; Bhaskar Das, President, The Advertising Club Bombay, and Executive President, Bennett & Coleman Co Ltd; Ajay Chandwani, Director, PerceptH; and Subhash Kamath, Managing Partner, BBH India.

Company sources have informed that Reed Business is in conversation with Infomedia to change the current structure, where instead of being a stakeholder in the business, it would want to license its titles to Infomedia.

Harris heard; after Ogilvy, McCann too on board the Abby 2009 at GoaFest?blur=25

It appears that the industry has reciprocated to Colvyn Harris’ argument that while slowdown was a reality, GoaFest was an industry effort, and that everyone must be a part of it as an industry member. After Ogilvy promising its participation, McCann Erickson, too, has said that it would send in “limited” number of entries for the Abby Awards 2009 as an industry gesture. Harris waits to hear from Lowe Lintas now.

INS protests to MIB against ‘exclusive & market share deals’?blur=25

The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has taken objection to the deals done by advertising agencies that are based on exclusivity and market share clauses. The INS believes that these are Restrictive Trade Practices and has written to the MIB to intervene and issue guidelines to advertising agencies to refrain from such deals. The INS has also written to its members advising them not to enter into such transactions.
