“WorldSpace is basically DTH in the radio space”

As head of WorldSpace’s marketing and consumer audio business in India, Sanjay Ramakrishnan is trying reposition the brand on the plank that it’s time for customers to evolve to satellite radio. So while FM is always going to be there, there is a whole new experience available through satellite radio. WorldSpace is also working on its content plan in order to strengthen its regional offerings for greater mass appeal, he says.

Private FM players start paying up licence fee dues

Private FM radio licencees in the metros have started paying up their licence fee dues, for a period of four months, to the government. Last month, the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Authority (TDSAT) had ordered private FM radio players to pay up their licence fees for four months (April 29 to August 29). So far, two, out of the 14 stations, have paid up.
