Zee TV has announced FPC changes in its weekend programming. Timings of shows like ‘Tata Indicom Ek Se Badhkar Ek’ and ‘Naaginn’ have been changed, while ‘Maayka’ will be aired five days a week. The channel has also effected a change in the format of its prime property ‘Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009’, the first time in its 13-year history.

The competition couldn’t have been closer in the Hindi general entertainment channels. Star Plus is riding high with 311 GRPs, while Zee TV follows at 209 GRPs. Sony Television is back at the No. 3 spot with 130 GRPs, but the win is by just 2 GRPs. In its third week, Colors has garnered 128 GRPs this week. Star One has 93 GRPs, NDTV Imagine has 90 GRPs, and 9X has 75 GRPs.

The various agreements between STAR Group and Balaji Telefilms have been terminated. STAR Group would be selling the 29.55 per cent stake that it had in Balaji Telefilms back to Balaji. The agreement that had created the JV between the two for south regional channels now stands terminated. The exclusivity clause of time slots that Balaji had with STAR also ends. In one sense, the move means benefits to STAR, Balaji and the Indian broadcasting fraternity.
