IBF elects Jawahar Goel as President for third consecutive year?blur=25

The newly-formed IBF board has elected Jawahar Goel as President for the third consecutive year. NDTV’s Narayan Rao and I Venkat continue to be Vice-President and Treasurer, respectively. The board has co-opted two new members: India TV’s Rajat Sharma and INX Media’s Peter Mukerjea. Prasar Bharti CEO BS Lali has also been elected to the board.

Colors’ 198 GRPs bring it within striking distance of Zee TV?blur=25

aMap had shown Colors as the No. 2 channel for week 37. Though TAM Media Research’s week 37 doesn’t put Colors in the No. 2 position, but with 198 GRPs under its belt in just its eighth week, Colors surely wouldn’t be complaining. With just 14 points separating it from the No. 2 channel, Colors has delivered on its promise of disruption, at least so far.

C&S Digital: Analog or Digital – Idea Cup ends on a high note?blur=25

Unlike the Hindi general entertainment genre or the Hindi news genre, wherein the digital trends had leaders different from those of the overall cable and satellite homes, the sports channels have more or less similar viewing patterns in digital homes as seen in the overall domain. The only channels that see a marginal gain in the digital homes are Zee Sports and Neo Cricket.

To top it, ‘Kyunki...’ is no longer the number one or two or three serial on television right now. The demise of the K-serials has made way for Mythologies, Realities and the B-serials.

TAM Media Research analysis shows that during July 21and July 22, 2008, news channels increased the ad duration significantly, in some cases as high as 100 per cent. In terms of ratings, Times Now and Aaj Tak have scored the highest during the Trust Vote coverage in their respective genres. TRAI suggests self-regulation in ratings; some recommendations differ?blur=25

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) draft recommendation on policy guidelines for ratings system in India has mixed signals for the industry. TRAI has stated that there should be no Government intervention in ratings. The recommendations, however, involve the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in every stage, including nomination of Ministry officials on the Board of Directors of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which is recommended as the sole custodian of broadcast ratings systems.

With a total of 23 metals, which included a Grand Prix and an Integrated Lion, India agencies are geared for the next year. Cannes Lions 2008:  India wins its first Integrated Lion; also a Silver Lion in Films?blur=25

The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2008 has seen India take a total of 23 metals home. These include one Integrated Lion and a Silver Lion. JWT has won the Integrated Lion for The Times of India’s Lead India campaign. There were in all only six metals awarded in this category. In the Films Awards, O&M has won a Silver for Neo Sports.
