Following its media review, Bank of India has it empanelled nine agencies for its media mandate. The decision follows post a tender that was floated in September 2010. The media agencies that have been empanelled on the bank’s roaster are Allied Media, Concept Communications, MediaVest Worldwide, Motivator, Goldmine, Prachar Communications, Sobhagya Advertising, Akar Advertising and Esha Advertising.

The Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has invited proposals from advertising agencies under the ‘two-bid’ system to manage and undertake the campaign for its Further Public Offer (FPO). The FPO is for the domestic market while the company wants to advertise offer for sale of its shares held by the Government of India.

Span Communications has been awarded Incredible India’s electronic media campaign for the European market to promote tourism in India. The pitch for all continents was called in November 2010. The ad spend for the campaign, which will be rolled out shortly, is estimated at Rs 50 crore.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has invited applications under the ‘two-bid’ system to empanel digital agencies, according to senior sources in the industry. The empanelled agencies will be responsible for launching campaigns as per an approved media plan to promote awareness about road safety.

In a final turn of events, Tata has consolidated all of its telecom brands with Lodestar UM across the GSM and CDMA platforms. Virgin Mobile has been the final addition to the Lodestar arsenal, after Tata DoCoMo and Tata Indicom. The account size is pegged at upwards of Rs 60 crore. No pitch preceded this development.

TI Cycles of India has signed up their media arrangement with Aegis Media’s Vizeum India. Industry sources peg the value of business at Rs 20 crore. The business moves from Mindshare. It may be recalled, Vizeum had earlier this year won the media duties of BSA Motors, a division of TI Cycles.

Shriram Insight, the stock broking arm of the Rs 42,000 crore Shriram Group, has roped in TME, the media company of Rediffusion Y&R, as their media agency. Confirming the development, Akhilesh Singh, MD, Shriram Insight, said, “We have roped in TME as we feel that they have the necessary expertise and a refreshing perspective from an execution point of view.”

Following a multi-agency pitch, Publicis Capital has bagged the creative mandate for online travel portal - Cleartrip.com. OMD India is the media agency on the business. According to industry sources, the ad spend on the business is estimated to be in the region of Rs 20 crore.

Following the win of the ITC business, Madison Media has now added the media duties of Pidilite Industries Ltd to its kitty. The win includes the complete portfolio business of Pidilite. There was no multi-agency pitch involved. The account size is pegged at Rs 50 crore. Mediaedge:cia (MEC) was the incumbent agency.

Cocoberry, the flavoured frozen yogurt chain in India, has robust expansion plans in place and recently launched a hunt for a media agency. The account size up for grabs is in the region of Rs 7-10 crore.

Vizeum continues to be on a roll. The eighteen-month old agency has added d.light to its kitty. d.light, a social enterprise and a Silicon Valley venture, funded by M&M, Acumen Fund, DFJ, Nexus India and others, is engaged in the design, manufacturing and distribution of solar appliances to people who have either no or little access to grid electricity.

Wynn Telecom, which had announced its foray into the mobile handset business in India under the brand name Wynncom in the beginning of 2010, has chosen Shop as its creative agency. The mobile brand decided on the agency in the month of November and handed over the business, pegged at Rs 30 crore, to Shop, according to senior sources in the industry.
