The National Readership Studies Council (NRSC) and the Media Research User’s Council (MRUC) have decided to merge the National Readership Survey and the Indian Readership Survey to create a single research for the print industry. Both organisations have agreed to this proposition. It is understood that the new body that would lead this survey would comprise 10 members each from MRUC and NRSC.

A second agency in the network has become commonplace in Indian advertising. The reasons ranged from cornering talent to getting a different philosophy in the system to handling conflicting businesses. And for these same reasons, some agencies have now even added third creative brands – JWT has Fortune, Leo Burnett has Black Pencil, and Ogilvy has now re-launched David. However, the question is whether there is place for more from the same in the advertising ecosystem.

STAR Group is continuing with its silence on the restructuring exercise that the company has undertaken. Another detail that has surfaced however is that Fox International, led in Asia by Ward Platt and Zubin Gandevia, would be handling Star Movies and Star World in South East Asia. Sources at STAR clarified the restructuring process would be formally underway in the next few weeks.

The prime objective of the meeting was to discuss the Content Code. One of the key suggestions from the meeting was to create a taskforce that could take this discussion forward in a beneficial way.

STAR officials continue to be very tight-lipped on the restructuring process that the company had undertaken recently. Sources familiar with the situation informed that the reorganising was expected to see STAR India operations report directly to the London office. It is also expected that the scale of STAR Hong Kong would be impacted significantly and that it would now be a liaison coordination office.
