Fox International Channels (FIC), in its bid to strengthen its management team in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, is further building up its pan-regional advertising sales capabilities to drive local market growth following a year of good business performance in fiscal 2010.
As part of senior level changes at NDTV Profit, Sreenivasan Jain has been assigned the duties of Managing Editor of the business channel from the NDTV Group. Jain will replace John O’ Loan from June 1 onwards. Jain, popularly known as Vasu, has been with NDTV for 14 years.
It is known from sources close to the development that Anjana Sharma has been brought in to head Percept Talent Management (PTM). It may be recalled that earlier Shailee Sanghvi, who was the AVP, was elevated to COO, after the exits of CEO Manish Porwal and COO Vinita Bangard. Sharma replaces Porwal though her exact designation could not be ascertained.
Indian Express Group has finally filled in the position for Marketing Head that was left vacant following Rajiv Jaitley’s exit. Dinesh Gulati has been roped in as Executive Vice President. He will be handling marketing and circulation for the Express Group.
Jagran Solutions, a unit of Jagran Prakashan Limited, has promoted Ambika Sharma as Chief Operations Officer. She was earlier donning the role of the National Head.
NGC India has appointed Ramon Chibb as Senior Vice President – Content. Starting June 15, 2010, Ramon will be in charge of all conceptualisation, content creation and programming at both National Geographic Channels and FOX History and Entertainment.
NDS, a provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, has announced the appointment of Anoop Varma as Director of Sales for India. Varma will be based in Gurgaon and will report to Alan Dishington, General Manager India, NDS. He will oversee all business development, sales and pre-sales activities in India that will include identifying and developing new business opportunities for NDS’ end-to-end pay-TV solutions in cable, satellite (DTH), IPTV and mobile TV markets.
LinkedIn, said to be the world’s largest professional network with more than 65 million members globally, has announced two key appointments. Sandeep Suvarna has joined as Head of Marketing, while Irfan Abdulla has been roped in to head Hiring Solutions. Both will further strengthen and expand LinkedIn’s presence in India.
MS&LGroup has promoted Jaideep Shergill, a 10-year veteran and founding member of Hanmer MS&L, to CEO of Hanmer MS&L India, effective immediately. In this new role, Shergill embarks on an ambitious plan to expand Hanmer MS&L’s expertise in specialty communications service areas.
Anurag Gupta has been elevated to Chief Strategy Officer at Mudra Max. He will continue to report to Pratap Bose, COO, Mudra Group and CEO, Mudra Max. Prior to this new appointment, Gupta was President of Strategic Initiatives & Integration.
Sriram, who had recently quit Imayam TV as Head of Marketing, has joined Captain TV in a similar capacity. He tool charge from May 3 and reports to LK Sudeesh, Managing Director, Captain TV and brother-in-law of Vijayakanth. Sriram will be responsible for generating revenue for the company through air time sales and advertisements sales at Captain TV.
Rajeev Jaitley, who had recently quit Indian Express as President, Marketing, is now returning to the telecom industry. His earlier stint in telecom was with Airtel. Meanwhile, there is no news from Indian Express on filling the position left vacant following Jaitley’s exit.
In his third stint with CyberMedia, Prashanth Hebbar has now been made Senior Editor at ‘Dare’, a magazine for entrepreneurs. Prior to this Hebbar was Vice President - Custom Publishing at CyberMedia India Online Ltd.
123greetings, an IntraSoft Technologies venture, has appointed Vishnu Kanth Gokul as National Head, Ad Sales. He has joined the company’s Mumbai office from May 10. Gokul will be responsible for implementing the sales plan for 123greetings and bringing in new clients from all parts of the India.
The responsibilities of Tom Gleeson, Vice President, Digital Media, ESPN International, who currently oversees the company’s growing digital businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), have been expanded to include oversight of all ESPN digital media efforts outside of the US.
PR consultancy Text 100 has promoted Sunayna Malik to the role of Managing Director for India. Malik will continue to serve as Managing Consultant of Text 100 Delhi. She will be reporting to Rowan Benecke, Text 100 Regional Director for APAC. Malik takes over from Amit Chaudhery, who has quit the agency to pursue new opportunities.
CK Harish Kumar has joined Suvarna News 24x7 as General Manager – Ad Sales. He will be responsible for revenue generation for the channel across India. Kumar is reporting to Shyam Sundar, Business Head, Suvarna News 24x7. Prior to this, he was with The Printers (Mysore) Pvt Ltd, Deccan Herald and Prajavani, where the last designation held by him was that of Deputy General Manager. Kumar has also worked with AJS India Pvt Ltd as Regional Sales Manager – South, and Hitakshi Media Solutions Pvt Ltd as Business Manager.
The Walt Disney Company in India has named Raju Venkataraman as Vice-President and General Manager of the newly named Disney Media Distribution. Disney Media Distribution (DMD) is the new business name for Disney-ABC International Television – the integrated media distribution arm of the Walt Disney Company. In his new role, Venkataraman will report to Mahesh Samat, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company India Pvt Ltd. Venkataraman was in charge of Business Operations for Disney Channel in South East Asia prior to taking up the Channel Distribution mandate. He has 22 years of experience in a variety of industries, both in India and in South East Asia, and is a Fellow Member of CIMA, UK.
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific has promoted Rajiv Bakshi to Vice President – Marketing for India region. In his new leadership role, Bakshi will be responsible for creating and implementing strategic marketing initiatives for Discovery’s entire portfolio of six networks in India. He will continue to report to Rahul Johri, Senior VP & GM India.
TME, the media arm of Rediffusion Y&R, has intensified its focus on the digital space with the hiring of Uma Sivakumar as National Digital Head. Sivakumar will be responsible for the media deliveries on digital for all offices of TME India.
