As part of internal movements at CyberMedia, Krishna Kumar has moved out of ‘Dare’, a magazine for entrepreneurs, as Group Editor after a stint of nearly three years. Kumar has been shifted to a new role in the Web 2.0 content platform, wherein he is now Senior Vice President Special Projects, CyberMedia.
Sanjeev Srivastava has put in his papers at Sahara Group, where he has been CEO and Editor-in-Chief, heading all media related activities of the Group. When contacted, Srivastava confirmed to exchange4media about his decision to quit the Group, but refused to speak about his next destination.
Changes at Hindustan Times: Sudeep Mukhia joins as Resident Editor; Yashwant Raj moves to Washington
Hindustan Times has appointed Sudeep Mukhia as Resident Editor in Delhi. Mukhia takes over from Yashwant Raj, who now moves to Washington DC as HT’s North America representative. Mukhia comes from CNN-IBN, where he was part of the channel’s launch team in 2005. He would report to Sanjoy Narayan, Editor-in-Chief, Hindustan Times.
Chaitanya Kalbag has been roped in as Editor of Business Today. Kalbag has been a journalist, editor, manager and publisher for over 35 years. In another development, Kaveree Bamzai has been promoted to Managing Editor of India Today. Prior to this, she was Executive Editor in the same publication.
Shams Kabir has joined Star India as Head of Media buying and Presentation. Prior to joining Star India, Kabir was with Oxigen Services India, where he was Senior Vice President, Marcom. He has around 16 years of experience and has worked in companies such as Mindshare, Madison and Media Direction, among others.
Ajit Menon, former President - Organisational Development, Mudra Group, has been elevated to Executive Director - Organisational Development. In his new role, Menon will be in-charge of LLC (Leadership, Learning and Change), Facilities Management, Compensation and Benefits, and IT. A member of the Executive Board, Menon works closely with Madhukar Kamath, MD & CEO, Mudra Group.
After a successful stint as Head-Trade Marketing for Central Region at SABMiller India, Mohit Choudhary has been promoted to the position of General Manager - Sales, North.
RK Swamy BBDO has appointed Rohini Gauthaman as General Manager, Media Direction, New Delhi. She will be reporting to Les Margulis, President, RK Swamy BBDO’s Media Direction. Prior to this appointment, Gauthaman was VP – Planning at Lintas Media Group. She has also been with Allied Media and Hakuhodo (both part of the Percept Group), Mindshare, Enterprise. She had earlier been with RK Swamy BBDO’s Chennai office in 1994. In her role across agencies, Gauthaman has been responsible for Maruti Suzuki, Luxor, BILT, PVR Cinemas, JVC, Panasonic, Yamaha Pianos, Canon, Toshiba, Konica, Sony, Dupont and a host of other accounts.
Rameet Arora, who has been heading marketing for Colors since the launch of the channel, has decided to move on. He is joining McDonald’s as Senior Director. Arora is currently serving his notice period at Colors for three months.
Rohan Deshpande has been roped in for the newly-created post of Chief Information Officer (CIF) at Ogilvy India. He will be based out of Mumbai. Deshpande moves from digital entertainment company Hungama, where he was Associate Director, Wireless Technology.
Kumar Subramanum, former Vodafone Head at Ogilvy India, has joined Contract Advertising as Executive Vice President for their Mumbai office. In addition, he will be responsible for the agency’s digital division iContract. Prior to heading the Vodafone business, Subramanium was President of Meridian Communication. He has roughly spent nine years at Ogilvy India. He began his advertising career in 1991 with Leo Burnett, from where he moved to Mudra. His time at Ogilvy, where he had worked on accounts such as BP-Castrol, Tata Motors, Amaron Batteries, Pidilite, Kodak and Star TV, was punctuated by a one-year stint at Radio City.
Sambit Mohanty has joined Bates141 Delhi as Executive Creative Director. He was earlier heading the creative function at advertising/design firm Brand Planet Elephant. Sonal Dabral, Chairman and Regional Executive Creative Director, Bates141, said, “Having Sambit coming on board is one of the changes we had planned to strengthen our creative talent pool. He has good experience in handling diverse categories, which is also reflected in the work in his portfolio. My FM has announced the elevation of Harrish M Bhatia to CEO. Prior to this, Bhatia was COO. In his new role, Bhatia will be looking at leading the brand through the much awaited changes in the radio industry and will also bring in a fresher outlook to the different business areas of the brand. He will be reporting to Pawan Agarwal, Director, Dainik Bhaskar Group.
Manhattan Communications, a total marketing solutions company, has roped in Shantonu Aditya as Co-Promoter and Executive Director. It may be recalled that Aditya had quit UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd as Executive Director in late 2009.
Jaideep Singh has been promoted at Viacom18 and will now be the National Sales Head at MTV. In his new role, Singh will be responsible for MTV’s sales revenues across all markets, in addition to the pan-regional sales for the brand. He will continue reporting to Aditya Swamy, Senior Vice-President - Marketing and Sales, MTV India.
Global market research firm Synovate has appointed Scott Miller as its North America CEO. Miller will be responsible for managing Synovate’s US and Canada business units. Most recently, Miller served as MD of global client relationships for Synovate, responsible for building and expanding relationships with many of the company’s largest clients.
Bates141 has announced the appointment of Kaizad Pardiwalla as Executive Vice President for its Mumbai operations. At Bates 141, Pardiwalla will be heading the largest office of the agency, which handles key accounts such as Virgin Mobile, TVS, Fiat, Tata AIG, Pfizer, Hindustan Unilever, and ICICI Bank Credit Cards, among others.

Reliance Media World Ltd.’s radio arm, Big FM has appointed Saurabh Doshi as Regional Head – West Zone. Prior to joining Big FM, Doshi was with Reliance Big TV as DGM and handling all content on the platform. He will be reporting to Soumen Ghosh Choudhury, National Business Head, Big FM. Doshi has extensive experience across companies ranging from Bank of America to Dun and Bradstreet, to name a few. In his new assignment, Doshi will be responsible for the West markets of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra (except Mumbai). This appointment marks Doshi’s second stint with the company, the earlier one being from 2006-08, when he was one of the earliest employees of the company and an integral part of the team launching Big FM’s stations across the country.

Mehta has been on the forefront of strategising on a diverse set of businesses like Unilever’s Dirt is Good, LG, Nestle, Maruti, Fever 104 FM and Havell’s campaigns. With 14 years of experience under his belt, Mehta has gained extensive experience on consumer habits of women and youth across various geographic markets. Some of the prominent names that he has worked on include Reckitt Benckiser, Unilever and Panasonic. Mehta has led various new business initiatives in India, Thailand and Japan during his stint with Lowe Lintas as Associate Vice President Planning and as Regional Planning Director-South East Asia-Lowe Worldwide. Prior to this, he had worked with various agencies like TBWA, Leo Burnett and McCann Erickson.
