Another appointment in Rediffusion Y&R is that of Gautam Talwar as Executive Vice President of New Business Development and Projects. Talwar will be based in Mumbai and will report to Mahesh Chauhan, Group CEO. Prior to this, he was with Kaleidoscope Entertainment Pvt Ltd as Creative and Business Head. He began his career with Grey and serviced businesses like Johnson & Johnson, Diageo, Elf, Akai, and Cadbury Schweppes, among others. He then moved to Ammirati Puris Lintas, where he serviced the Unilever hair franchise before becoming the strategic planner on Fair & Lovely and PSI (Population Services International) for whom he developed the Balbir Pasha campaign. He then moved to handle the Unilever business for Lowe for the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Rediffusion Y&R has announced the appointment of Bimal Kumar Sahoo as Business Head based out of Mumbai. He will be responsible for the Singapore Tourism Board, Airtel, Bank of India, IOCL and Marico accounts. Sahoo joins Rediffusion Y&R from TBWA\India, Mumbai, where he worked on accounts like Nivea, Set Max, Bajaj Allianz, Platinum Jewellery and Network18. He has over 11 years of experience ranging across fields like Marketing, Corporate Communications and Client Servicing. In advertising alone, his expertise ranges across categories such as FMCG, banking, insurance, jewellery, telecom, durables, lubricants, entertainment, luggage, apparel, TV channels and pharma.
Turner General Entertainment Networks India Ltd. (TGEN) has aggressive growth plans for India. In keeping with its strategy it has appointed Saurabh Tewari as Head of Programming – Fiction of its flagship Hindi GEC, Imagine.
Colors is sprucing up its programming team and has brought in Siddharth Bahuguna to head Non-Fiction Content. Besides this, the fiction content on the channel will be divided into four time blocks, with each block having a separate fiction team, which will report to Ashvini Yardi, Programming Head, Colors.
Lavazza, Italy’s No. 1 coffee brand and a major player in the Indian coffee market, has announced the appointment of R Shivashankar as Director - South Asia and Sanjay Coutinho as Chief Executive Officer, Barista Coffee Company Ltd, India, with immediate effect.
Svetleena Choudhary, Senior Manager Media, Consumer Insight and Loyalty, adidas India, has put in her papers. After a three and a half year run at adidas India and close to nine years of media trotting on both sides of the media role, she takes off to live her entrepreneurial dream. Choudhary walked out of MICA in 2001 with a campus job at Lintas Media (erstwhile Initiative Media). With over five years of rigor on top line media spenders, she swung from the media domain at the agency to set up adidas India's media and loyalty function. Alongside, she has already launched her own outfit label 'Bubble Fuelled'.
Digital Law & Kenneth has roped in Kedar Mehendale as Senior Manager for their client servicing team. Mehendale will be based out of Law & Kenneth's Mumbai office. Prior to this, he was with Tribal DDB, where he had handled brands such as LIC, MTV, Reliance ADAG, Union Bank of India, and Lipton, among others. Digital Law & Kenneth currently handles clients such as HCC, Lavasa, Formula One Force India, Parle Products, ICICI Bank, JP Morgan, and Unitech, among others.
Sahil Gupta bid adieu as Associate Account Manager & Planner at BC Web Wise with effective from June 4, 2010. He had been with agency for four and a half years. Prior to the post of Associate Account Manager & Planner, Gupta was Senior Controller - Account Planning. Before BC Web Wise, he was with Hungama Mobiles as an Account Executive for a year.
OgilvyAction, a division of Ogilvy & Mather, has announced the appointment of Vipul Salvi as Creative Head for its urban experiential, shopper and trade marketing practices. He will be based out of Mumbai. Salvi began his career in 1999 as a Senior Art Director with Contract Advertising. He was with the agency for five years before moving on to Impact BBDO Dubai, Grey WW, Lowe, both in Dubai. He returned to Mumbai in January 2009 to join Law & Kenneth. In a span of over 10 years, he worked on brands such as Shopper's Stop, Cadbury, ICICI Bank, Daewoo, NDTV, Raymond Suiting, Royal Enfield, Zee TV, Wrigley, Guinness, Emirates, Barclays Bank, Dubai Healthcare City, PepsiCo International (Acquafina, Mountain Dew, Pepsi, 7Up), Jumeirah International, Audi, Virgin Atlantic, Dubai Bank, Visa, Unitech, ITC's skincare, hair & soaps and more.
Ad industry veteran Surajit Roy, who had been with Contract Advertising as its head for five years, has put in his papers. However, he will continue with the agency for three more months. Meanwhile, Prashant Mathur has been roped in to step into Roy’s shoes and is taking charge of Contract’s new office in Gurgaon.
Vinayak Kumar Lal has been roped in as Head of Marketing at Intex Technologies (India) Ltd, manufacturer of mobile phones, IT hardware and electronics. Lal moves from Devyani Foods Industries, where he was General Manager, Marketing.
Gourav Tandon has put in his papers at Navia Asia, the out of home specialist network, as Chief Operating Officer. He is currently serving his notice period. Sanjay Shah, CEO, Navia Asia, will look after Tandon’s responsibilities till further announcement.
Sandeep Khosla, former Vice President at the Indian Express Newspapers, has joined Infomedia18 as CEO – Publishing with immediate effect. He will be driving the next level of growth in Infomedia18’s magazine business.
Grey India has roped in Karan Rawat as ECD, Art to partner Mumbai ECD Rohit Malkani. Rawat was with Enterprise Nexus (Bates India) for six years as Creative Director before turning independent creative director. He started his career with McCann-Erickson as a visualiser and went on to spend four years with JWT as Senior Art Director. Rawat has been the recipient of several creative awards, including the Gold at the Abby for Best Campaign in 2001 as well a Gold and Silver Abby for Best Art Direction in the year 2007. His work on Killer has won awards since 2002. Other campaigns to win awards include those for NECC, The Times of India, Smirnoff and Ravissant.
The World Gold Council (WGC) has announced the appointment of David Lamb as its Managing Director, Jewellery, to be effective July 1, 2010. Lamb, who will be based in New York, will have overall responsibility for the strategic development of the gold jewellery market worldwide with particular focus in building the premium market in the US. He will be a member of WGC’s Leadership Team and will report directly to Aram Shishmanian, CEO, WGC. Prior to this appointment, Lamb was an Executive Director of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC), the sales and marketing arm of De Beers, as Worldwide Marketing Director, and subsequently, Chief Strategy Officer. Previously, Lamb had spent more than 20 years at leading international advertising agencies, notably JWT Worldwide, where he was Executive Vice President and had held various leadership positions, including Head of Worldwide Account Planning and finally Head of Multinational Clients.
Dhunji Wadia, Senior Vice President and Managing Partner, JWT Mumbai, has put in his papers. Wadia has confirmed the news to exchange4media, but refrained from revealing his next destination, saying that he was considering the various options. Meanwhile, it is not known who is replacing Wadia at JWT.
Digital marketing company Ignitee Digital Solutions has promoted Shankar B to Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Shankar will be reporting to Atul Hegde, CEO, Ignitee Digital Solutions, and take charge for both the India & the middle-east operations. Prior to this, Shankar was National New Business Director.
Carrier Airconditioning & Refrigeration Ltd has appointed Gaurang Pandya as its Managing Director, effective May 10, 2010. He replaces Zubin Irani, who has been promoted to the position of Senior Managing Director of United Technologies Corporation’s commercial companies in India. He joined Carrier in January 1999 in India and has since then held various finance positions in the company. He was General Manager in Guam before his most recent role as Director of the Building Systems and Services business in India.
Toshiba India, the Indian subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, has announced the appointment of Tengguo Wu as Director of its PC Division. The appointment of Wu to spearhead the India operations will strengthen Toshiba’s PC Division to aggressively ramp up its operations and grow its market share. Wu started his career with Toshiba in 1990, in South East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. Based in Singapore in early 1990’s, he led Toshiba’s foray in the nascent Indian laptop market. In the following decades, Wu has been instrumental in developing new businesses and markets for Toshiba Corporation across 30 countries, including South & Southeast Asia, Middle East, South Africa, and Pacific Islands. He has managed diverse portfolios across sales, marketing and general management.
Ajay Naqvi has joined Mudra as EVP and Head of Mudra North & East. Prior to this appointment, Naqvi was National Business Head for Airtel at Rediffusion Y&R. He replaces Sanjay Sharma, who had quit the agency some time back.
