The first time I met Prasoon Joshi (seven years back), he was not already an award-winning lyricist or someone whose poetry (the one word I think describes Joshi’s writing the best) had made a strong mark across India. He was someone who had given us ‘Thanda Matlab Coca Cola’, amongst other such outstanding work, in the advertising domain. He headed McCann Erickson India and he was amongst the top three names that were taken in the same breadth when it came to reigning creative geniuses from India.

Preparations for GoaFest 2011 have begun. Leading the festival this time is Lintas Media Group’s Chairperson and Vice President, Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), Lynn de Souza. The event is planned for April 7, 8 and 9, 2011. The Industry Conclave will take place on April 7, 2011, followed by two days of GoaFest. It is understood that the venue this year would be South Goa.

With much euphoria, the team representing India at AdAsia in 2007 announced AdAsia would be back for the third time to be hosted in India in 2011. The Organising Committee led by Mudra’s Madhukar Kamath, with the backing of Advisory Board chaired by Mahindra & Mahindra’s Anand Mahindra, has the show rolling. Much ground has to be covered by November 2011, when AdAsia would be hosted in New Delhi – the OC speaks on plans ahead.

The television industry had an action-filled week. First, the I&B Ministry directed Colors and Imagine to change the timings of ‘Bigg Boss’ and ‘Rakhi ka Insaaf’ to a later slot. Then, Colors challenged the Ministry’s directive in court and got a stay on the order. While these developments raise quite a few questions, one cannot help but compare a similar scenario, including Star Plus’ ‘Sach ka Saamna’ last year, and wonder why the Ministry issues different directives for the so-called ‘adult’ content.
