Nikhil Wagle has been appointed as Editor for the new 24-hour Marathi news and current affairs channel, a 50:50 joint venture between GBN and Lokmat Group. The channel, to be called IBN Lokmat channel, is expected to roll out some time in the near future. Rajdeep Sardesai would be the Executive Editor of the new channel.

The period of Jan-May ‘07 saw a 5 per cent dip in print volumes of the toursim industry, over Jan-May ’06. A ratio of 74:26 of ad volumes were garnered by private and Indian state tourism players, while maximum ad volumes by tourism players in publications were from West zone, and metro city newspapers saw the maximum ad volumes. The Ministry of Tourism was the top player among Indian state tourism, while Cox & Kings India led among the private players.

The final day of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival often manages to give the fraternity a little more drama than expected. Every year the ‘controversy’ in question would be around the Titanium category. This year, however, it is interestingly the Films Lions, where the jury moved an entry from its entered category to make it win a Grand Prix, and viral films got more attention than films.

Indian agencies had 77 entries in Films Lions, of which five entries made to the shortlist. The results have turned out to be not so bad after all with India winning three metals – McCann Erickson bagged a Silver and a Bronze for Happy Dent, while Code Red Films won a Bronze for the Eye Bank Association of India.
