This week we shone the spotlight on the ongoing legal tussle between TRAI and broadcasters in Madras HC and how it could permanently change the broadcast game in India. Chinese smartphone maker Vivo India CMO Vivek Zhang stepped down from his role and word is that he just might get another expanded role within the organisation. Uber India released its first-ever integrated marketing campaign based on the theme of Apnapan. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput became the brand ambassador of Ziox mobiles, which now plans to pump in Rs 100 crore in marketing initiatives. The Advertising Club announced the nomination list for Marquees 2017. Happy mcgarrybowen was roped in as the new creative agency of Suzuki two-wheelers while dentsu X is its media partner. Both are part of Dentsu Aegis Network. MSL India, Publicis Group’s strategic communications and engagement network, also came on board as the public relations partner. Kellogg India announced the appointment of Mohit Anand as the Managing Director for its India and South Asia business. Madison Media strengthen its digital leadership team with Shobhit Gaur joining the agency as head of North Digital and Sandeep Prabhudesai as South Digital and Analytics lead. GroupM’s North America CEO, Brian Lesser is leaving the company to take on a new role at AT&T in order to set up a new video and advertising platform for the telecommunications giant. Nitesh Kripalani quit as Country Head of Amazon Prime Video India and replacing him is Vijay Subramaniam.
Ajit Varghese, APAC CEO for Maxus, will now be spearheading Global Market Development as President and will be based out of London for the new entity which is a result of the merger of Maxus and MEC.
Ad man Prasoon Joshi has been named the new CBFC chairperson.

Facebook was made to pay $40 million to settle a class-action lawsuit for overstating the Average Time its users spent watching video ads for 18 months from 2015-16, the incorrect calculations had led advertisers to pay extra for video ads. Also, Initiative India, the full-service media agency of IPG Mediabrands, has bagged the media mandate of e-pharmacy brand 1mg. while Havas Media has bagged the digital duties of Piramal Enterprises Limited's Consumer Products Division
We also learnt that Sir Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital has merged with digital agency Firewood in a deal valued at $150 million.
Also this week, HT Media named Rajeev Beotra as Executive Director, Revenues, Advertising & Distribution, while Tanushree Radhakrishnan quit Zenith as Chief Digital Officer.
As the week came to a close, the exchange4media Screenage Mobile Marketing Conference and Maddies were held on October 11 at the ITC Maratha, Mumbai, with Mindshare winning the Agency of the Year award.

Stephen Allan, MediaCom and Charles Frump, were the keynote speakers at the event. While, Stephen Li, CEO, APAC, OMD, spoke on ‘Reigniting the creative spark’. The event also saw an interesting panel discussion on ways to unlock the next growth opportunity in the ad industry.

The week was also full of people on the move. Shailesh Gupta has been elected as President of the Indian Newspaper Society for 2019-20. Also, Joakim Borgström was been elevated as Worldwide Chief Creative Officer of BBH as Pelle Sjoenell has announced that he is departing the agency.
This week, Doordarshan Director General Supriya Sahu stepped down from her position after a 3-year stint, while Jasneet Bachal joined YES Bank as Chief Marketing Officer.
