BIG Street, the out-of-home initiative of Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd, has elevated Ashwin Padmanabhan as National Head. He will be reporting to Rabe Iyer, Business Head, BIG Live and BIG Street. Padmanabhan has been with the group since its inception.
Law & Kenneth has promoted Neeraja Kale to Senior Vice President and Branch Head of Law & Kenneth Mumbai. She was earlier the Vice-President. Kale had joined Law & Kenneth a year back. This is the first time that Law & Kenneth is appointing a Branch Head for Mumbai.
Dinesh K Srivastava, formerly with Delhi Press, has joined ‘Eastern Panorama’, an English language socio-political general interest monthly magazine published from Shillong, as Vice President, Marketing. Srivastava will be reporting to Group Chairman KK Jhunjhunwala.
Dinesh Vyas has put in his papers at TME India, where he was designated as VP & Head, TME Mumbai. He is joining MEC India and will take charge from September 1, 2010. Vyas will be reporting to T Gangadhar, MD, MEC India and will be based in Mumbai.
Chennai-based Optima Advertising has appointed Abraham G Karimpanal as VP Creative, effective immediately. A seasoned creative professional, Karimpanal brings with him over 16 years of experience in a variety of sectors like FMCG, durables, software and jewellery. In his last role, Karimpanal was Associate Vice President and Senior Creative Director at JWT Chennai. He had started his career with HTA (later JWT) then moved to O&M, Lowe, Orchard, and had a second stint with JWT. He has worked on many of India’s well-known brands, including Tanishq, Fast Track, Infosys, Wipro Net Kracker and Oberoi Hotels in Lowe, Fairver Fairness Cream, Everglo Dishwash bar, Ruchi Pickles (all from CavinKare), Dalmia Cements, Magicwoods and Lotte Confectionery at Orchard, and TI Cycles, Murugappa Group, Pondicherry Tourism, GRT Hotels, etc., at JWT.
Close on the heels of putting Ashish Singru in charge of the Bharti business in Delhi, Madison Media has appointed Rajat Girdhar to spearhead its digital business, thus beefing its Digital team.
Soumya Acharya has been roped in as a Consultant in the buying resource department at ZenithOptimedia. Acharya is reporting to Navin Khemka, Senior VP, ZenithOptimedia. His last stint was as Senior Investment Director with Maxus, where he had worked for four and a half years.
The India Today Group has roped in Salil Kumar as CEO of its e-Commerce business. Kumar took charge on August 10, 2010. India Today Group Digital is the online business unit of The India Today Group, which consists of luxury brands online private sales store like ‘Bagit Today’. Kumar is reporting to Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group.
JWT has seen the exits of two senior hands. After a 17-year stint with JWT, Anuja Chauhan has bid adieu to the agency as Executive Creative Director. Also to quit the agency is Elvis Sequiera, who was with JWT for three years. He was Vice-President.
Following the exit of Prakash Dharmarajan, Ogilvy & Mather has moved Ramamoorthi to head its Chennai branch as President. Ramamoorthi was heading the IBM business at the agency’s Bangalore office prior to his new assignment.
In a high profile account movement, <b>Praveen Sharma (Perry), COO,</b> Madison Media Plus, has moved on. His duties have been taken over by Ashish Singru, from Microsoft, USA. Sharma had led the Bharti Group of businesses, which will now be handled by Singru.
Tarun Chauhan has come on board JWT Mumbai as Senior VP & Managing Partner. He replaces Dhunji Wadia, who had quit the agency in May 2010. Senior sources close to the development have confirmed the news. Chauhan moves from Lowe Lintas, where he was President.
S Yesudas, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent, Vizeum Media Services India, has been inducted into Vizeum India’s Board as Director.
Charu Bakshi has bid adieu to creative hot shop 4D IMC (Integrated Marketing Communication), where she was President. She was with 4D IMC for one and a half years. Senior sources close to the development have confirmed the news. It is not known where Bakshi headed next.
Monica Nayyar Patnaik has been elevated to the position of Joint Managing Director at Eastern Media Ltd, which owns Radio Choklate. The media house has also promoted Malaya Mishra as CEO of its non-print division, which includes radio.
Adarsh Mishra has been promoted as Associate Vice-President, DNA. In his new role, he will continue working with the Sales and Market Development (SMD) team and will be heading circulation for the Mumbai edition. He was previously General Manager, SMD at DNA. He will be reporting to KU Rao, CEO, DNA.

In this new role, Rodricks will be responsible for the positioning and sale of NDS’ advanced advertising solutions to major advertisers, advertising agencies, content providers and pay-TV operators across the Asia Pacific region. Rodricks is a seasoned advertising industry professional with 17 years of experience in the Asia Pacific region. For the previous nine years, he had held the position of Vice President of Integrated Sales and Marketing with STAR TV based in their Hong Kong office. In his role with STAR TV, he was responsible for running large integrated marketing campaigns across the region for STAR TV clients.

BBC Worldwide Channels has appointed veteran pay-TV and media industry expert Deepak Shourie as Director, BBC Worldwide Channels, South Asia, reinforcing BBC Worldwide’s long-term commitment to India as a priority territory for its business. Based in Delhi, Shourie will take on responsibility for BBC Worldwide Channel operations across South Asia, and will spearhead the management of the channels in the region. Working with the senior management strategy team in Singapore and London, Shourie will report into Mark Whitehead, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BBC Worldwide Channels Asia.
