Noorings: Can Big B really turn it around for Sony with the new KBC??blur=25

I did begin writing it as ‘KBC4’, but I recollected a recent conversation with Ajit Thakur, Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, who had corrected me and said, ‘it is the new KBC’. So, new KBC it is. Sony is very excited with the property at hand, any channel would be. But the first million dollar question is will Big B repeat his magic of KBC with the new KBC? Difficult to say, given a few recent instances…

The strong number two GEC: Where Multi Screen Media beats the leaders?blur=25

Not so long ago, most broadcasting companies got into the second general entertainment channel race. STAR India perhaps had the best start to it with STAR One, but as time progressed, STAR One faced many challenges and in the course lost many eyeballs. It would not be wrong to say that Multi Screen Media has beaten the competition in the second GEC game. In the recent past, Sony and SAB have claimed the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively, in the GRP charts.

Perhaps one of the biggest developments in the Indian print industry, and a progressive one at that, was announced in August 2009, when the MRUC and NRSC had finally agreed to pool in resources and create the single strongest print measurement system in India. However, nearly a year has passed since, and there has been no word from either camp on what has held back the progress of the initiative.

Just when I say that I am not going to write on another pitch, or the sanctity of the process in its present seen form, there is something that happens that gets me going again! Noorings: Looking for more women leaders to head industry bodies?blur=25

With all the heat around the AAAI President’s Chair, this was perhaps not the best of times to delve in this. But the more I dug out names that have occupied the AAAI President Chair, the more I was disappointed to see no women making it to that top honour since 1985. When I had first started in this career, I had heard Lynn de Souza say, <i>it is not about you being a woman, but your capability that should decide your inclusion, or not, in any conversation. </i>I firmly believe in that. And perhaps that is why I am this disappointed to not see many, who have been inspiration to people like me, making it to the AAAI President’s list.

Noorings: And the business goes to the incumbent…?blur=25

It is confusing for me too – why should a client that chooses to stay back with the incumbent be a problem for many agencies, except for the obvious bit? But there is an interesting industry conversation emerging on clients that call high-end pitches, take several weeks to take a decision, and then announce ‘we retain the incumbent’. Now, did you not know the strength of the incumbent before engaging everyone else’s time and money, ask the other agencies...
