John Distilleries Ltd (JDL) has entrusted the advertising duties of three of its alcohol brands with Creativeland Asia. The win comes in the wake of a multi-agency pitch. Creativeland Asia will handle the communication and launch strategies for Salute Vodka, Mont Castle Brandy brands and the advertising of JDL’s existing whisky brand, Original Choice.

The Times of India is set to add a new title to its bouquet of print offerings with ‘Crest’, a premium weekend edition. The 32-paged edition will appear on Saturdays and is expected to priced at Rs 6. However, neither the price nor the launch date of the paper has been finalised as it is currently being tested in the Delhi market.

Big FM, the radio initiative from Adlabs Films Ltd, has announced the launch of its new music positioning – ‘Chillax Hits’ – in Mumbai and Delhi. Pizza Hut has called for a creative pitch. It is learnt that the agencies taking part in the pitch include JWT, O&M and another agency, who’s name couldn’t be ascertained. The account size is estimated at upwards of Rs 15 crore. JWT Delhi has been handling the account for the last 10 years.

India continued to be one of the most spoken of countries in the various sessions and conversations that took place at Spikes Asia. The number of Indian entries, too, though lower than last year, are the fourth highest that were sent to the festival. However, with just 19 delegates, of which seven were from the Times of India Group, Indians were very few and far in between at the festival. Spikes Asia 2009 has announced the shortlist for the TV/Cinema, Radio and Digital categories. From India, there are nine pieces of work across eight broad entries competing in TV/Cinema. Similarly in Radio, there are three pieces of work across two broad entries that have made it to the shortlist. These apart, there are three entries from India in the Digital shortlist.
