Lowe Lintas has roped in Ashish Kharwatkar and AP Zeth as Creative Directors, Copy and Art, respectively. Kharwatkar has joined from DDB Mudra, while Zeth joins from OgilvyOne Worldwide. Both will be reporting to Arun Iyer, Group Creative Director, Lowe Lintas. Besides DDB Mudra, Kharwatkar has previously worked with Grey Worldwide, Enterprise Nexus, DDB Sri Lanka and Draftfcb+Ulka. Zeth has earlier worked with agencies like Contract Advertising, TBWA Anthem and MAA Bozell.
Anupama Mandloi, Head of Non-Fiction Programming at STAR India, has put in her papers. She was with STAR India for two years and was responsible for driving shows such as ‘Voice of India’, ‘Sach ka Saamna’, ‘Aap ki Kacheri’ and ‘Perfect Bride’, among others. She will be replaced by Monika Shergill, who will lead the non-fiction programming for the channel. Shergill has been primarily involved with programming for STAR One and some new initiatives on STAR Plus in the recent past. In her new role, Shergill will report to Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India.
Zoom India has announced the appointment of Bala Iyengar as Business Head of Zoom Entertainment Network (ZEN). Iyengar takes on the mantle from MK Anand, erstwhile Business Head of the channel. He has till now been General Manager - Revenue at Zoom TV for over the last several years. He took charge from December 1, 2009. Iyengar began his career in the Ad Sales Department of Times Response, Bombay Times Team, in year 1997. He then moved on to Ad Sales in Sony Entertainment and headed the Bangalore office of Star Movies and Star World. He shifted base in Mumbai as Account Director with MTV and went on to become the Regional Head West for Zoom in 2005.
TBWA\India has announced that Nirmalya Sen, currently COO - North, TBWA\India, is taking up a new pan-India role as Managing Director. Shiv Sethuraman, CEO, TBWA\India has confirmed the development. Sen resumes his new responsibilities from January 1, 2010. In another development, it is understood that Madan Mohan, COO -West, TBWA\India, has bid adieu to the agency.
Sunil Lulla has returned to Bennett, Coleman and Company Ltd’s (BCCL) fold as Managing Director, Times Television Group. In this role, he would be overseeing Times Now, ET Now and Zoom. Chintamani Rao would be given another portfolio within BCCL, wherein he would be working in Private Treaties. Company sources have confirmed the development to exchange4media.
DDB Mudra Group has announced the elevation of Rajeev Raja to the position of National Creative Director for the entire Group. Raja was earlier Creative Head of the Group. The DDB Mudra Group, a part of the Mudra Group, boasts of four agencies – DDB Mudra, Tribal DDB India, RAPP India and Mudra Health & Lifestyle.
Sahara One Media and Entertainment Ltd has appointed Deepak Segal as COO of its motion picture division, Sahara One Motion Pictures, with immediate effect. Segal has been associated with media and entertainment business for more than two decades.
After a nearly two-year stint, Vehrnon Ibrahim has decided to put in his papers as Vice President - Programming, at Radio One. He is currently serving his notice period and will continue in Radio One till the end of 2009.
Fever FM has appointed Neeraj Saraswat as Station Head of Kolkata. Saraswat comes in from 3i Infotech Ltd (India), where he was National Channel Manager – Retail. At Fever FM, he will be reporting to National Marketing Head Neeraj Chaturvedi.
Hindi daily Amar Ujala has effected some realignment at the top echelons. SN Jha has joined as GM, Government Business and Mini-Metros. He will be reporting to Alok Mathur, VP - Media Solutions (National), who recently joined from Outlook and reports to Sunil Mutreja, President – Marketing, Amar Ujala group.
Sunil Lulla has stepped down from the Board of Alva Brothers. Consequent to this, he has relinquished his position as CEO of Alva Turner Hindi GEC Real, and his association with production house Miditech.
Cequity, part of the RK Swamy-Hansa Group and one of the leading providers of data-led marketing services from India, has appointed Anand Siva as its Business Head to steer its newly set up unit of Customer Integrated Marketing (CIM). The new unit will focus on direct relationship and one-to-one multi-channel marketing.
Sandeep Singh has been elevated to Business Head, Brand and Media Solutions, for Quasar operations across the country – Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Prior to this, he was Business Director, Quasar, and was responsible for the Mumbai and Bangalore regions. He was based in Delhi. In his new role, Singh will be reporting to Manish Vij, Co-founder, Quasar Media.
Publicis Worldwide has announced the appointment of Olivier Altmann, Executive Creative Director, Publicis Conseil, as its Chief Creative Officer with immediate effect. Altmann will report to Richard Pinder, COO, Publicis Worldwide. His new responsibilities will include driving the current creative momentum forward across the Publicis Worldwide network to the No 5 goal. He will divide his responsibilities between global clients, including Renault and Orange, and recruiting, motivating and working with top talent. He will, however, continue to retain his position of ECD and Co-chairman at Publicis Conseil.
Radio Mirchi has announced the appointment of Shamik Talukder as National Head, Mirchi Activations. With over 13 years of experience, Talukder has worked across sections of media, including television, radio, outdoor and the Internet, with companies like Times OOH, Sony Entertainment Television, Radio Mirchi, Indya.com, Star TV and Mid-Day Group. Prior to joining Radio Mirchi, Talukder had launched and managed VIA OOH as co-promoter. He was also responsible for after sales for West and East during his stint at SET India. In the past, he has worked with Radio Mirchi.
The Nielsen Company has announced the appointment of Shubhranshu Das as Regional Head for its New Global Financial Services Practice in South Asia. Das had joined Nielsen in 2008 and is based out of Mumbai. He has over 20 years’ experience in marketing, advertising and market research at companies such as Wipro Ltd, Siemens Telecom, SRF Ltd and Contract Advertising. He had also led the Financial Services Sector in TNS India. Das had joined NFO India in their Stakeholder Relationship Management group in 2002. His experience in market research spans a diverse set of areas, including B2B, retail and consumer products with specific focus on the services sectors such as telecom and financial services.
Soni Shrivastav has joined VLCC Group as VP, Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications. She was heading a similar function for the CK Birla Group for 10 years and was overseeing the portfolio for companies like Orient Cement, Fans and Paper, Hyderabad Industries, Hindustan Motors, Birlasoft, etc. Shrivastav is a media and corporate affairs professional with 23 years of professional experience. She had earlier had a four-year stint in the hospitality sector while working for Le Meridien. She has also worked with agencies like Megacorp and Concept, and publications like India Today, The Times of India, and Amrit Bazar Patrika in the early part of her career.
Bates 141 has appointed Vaasu Gavarasana as Executive Vice President at its Delhi office. He will be responsible for overseeing work on the agency’s growing portfolio of brands in Delhi and other special projects. Prior to joining Bates 141, Gavarasana was a new media entrepreneur in Singapore. His experience spans 20 years, mostly with McCann and Lintas, working on brands such as Unilever Detergents, Britannia, Timex, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, MasterCard, Lufthansa and F&N. He was also with TBWA\India, working closely with TBWA\Paris and Singapore to bring the BiC brand to India. Gavarasana had begun his career in 1990 as an intern with Ogilvy Direct, Bangalore straight out of a Masters programme at Yale University, USA.
Creativeland Asia’s Sudheer Krishnan has quit the organisation. Krishnan confirmed the news to exchange4media, but refused disclose his next destination. As is known, earlier this month Paul Menacherry had joined Creativeland Asia as Executive Creative Director, where he is based in Kochi to head the company’s South India operations.
ZenithOptimedia has promoted Satyajit Sen, Managing Director - North, as CEO with immediate effect. Meanwhile, Ambika Srivastava will continue to guide the agency in her new role as Chairperson, in addition to her other major duty as Chairperson of Vivaki Media Exchange.
