Cornel Fernandes has been given the additional responsibility of heading the other SBUs for clients under Mumbai region at the Patrika Group. Fernandes will be reporting to Arvind Kalia, National Head – Marketing, Patrika Group. He is replacing Anil Malik, who has quit the organisation.
Shefalee Vasudev has put in her papers as Editor of Marie Claire India. Prior to joining the Outlook Group to head Marie Claire India as its first Editor, Vasudev had been a news journalist for 15 years and had worked with various newspapers and magazines.
Vivek Gaur, Executive Director, India Today Group, has quit and joined Hindustan Times. Confirming the news to exchange4media, Gaur said that he joined HT on December 21, 2009 as Business Head for the North-East region and would be reporting to Rajeev Verma, CEO, HT Media.
Vynsley Fernandes, Group Director - Network Operations, INX Media, has decided to move on. He has been with the INX television network since its inception in 2007 and is currently serving his notice period till early 2010. At INX, Fernandes was instrumental in setting up the infrastructure, facilities and network operations for INX Media and INX News.
Radio Indigo has appointed a new team of executives in Bangalore. Carl Avari has been appointed as Vice-President, Operations, while Stanley Simon would undertake all marketing activities in the station. Avari will oversee operations in Bangalore as well as Goa, whereas Simon will oversee marketing for both stations. Sanjay Prabhu, MD, Radio Indigo, said, “Carl’s and Stanley’s appointments bring enormous skill and experience to the channel and heralds the beginning of many successful years.”
Ignitee Digital Solutions has appointed Shankar B as National Business Director. Shankar has 16 years’ experience in the field of media sales, including eight years in the television space. He began his career in 1993 with Getit Yellow Pages. He began his television career in 1998 with Raj TV as Manager - Sales and later was promoted as Head of National Sales. Post that, he moved to Turner International India as Director – Advertising Sales handling prestigious accounts like Cartoon Network, Pogo, CNN, Zee MGM and Zee English. His career with radio started with Hello FM as VP – Sales and Marketing for close to two years, wherein he was mainly involved in launching seven stations all over Tamil Nadu.
Buongiorno Digital Innovation India Ltd., a joint venture between Mitsui and Buongiorno, the provider of mobile entertainment, information, messaging and marketing services in India and APAC region, has appointed Amit Dey as CEO. Prior to joining Buongiorno, Dey was CEO at Axis Ad Print Media, a personal and direct media company. His earlier assignment was with OnMobile Global Ltd as Head of Sales & Business Development – Europe and Americas. An MBA from IIM Calcutta, Dey has more than 17 years’ experience in telecom, automobiles, and plant automation. In the last 12 years that he has been with the telecom industry, he has managed core network business as well as the VAS business.
Shavon Barua is joining Euro RSCG as Director of the agency’s Mumbai office. Barua takes charge from January 2010. She has earlier worked with Euro RSCG in Delhi, where she was Head of the Reckitt Benckiser business.
CVL Srinivas has put in his papers as Director, Private Treaties, an innovative venture of Bennett Coleman and Company Ltd that was set up to leverage the long experience and wide reach of the Times Group to create value for its clients through strategic partnerships. Srinivas had joined the venture in March 2008. He has not yet decided on his next destination.
Integrated marketing agency iris has appointed Rebecca Cox to the newly-created role of Head of Business Development for Asia Pacific. Cox will relocate to the agency’s Singapore office from its London headquarters, where she will be responsible for marketing iris’ integrated capabilities to prospective and existing clients.
After a stint of nearly four years, both Navin Shah and Maneesh Mathur have quit Percept Picture Company and P9 Integrated, respectively, to start their own venture, christened EMC (Entertainment Media Communications). The company will be based in Mumbai and is scheduled to launch in mid-January 2010.
Dabur has appointed Bates 141 and Law & Kenneth as creative partners for two of its brands – Oxybleach and Saka Men’s Bleach – respectively. Industry sources have pegged the combined account size at upwards of Rs 20 crore. Adbur is Dabur’s in-house media agency on the account.

In a related development, V Murali Raaman, CEO of Polimer TV has quit the organisation. Sources from Polimer Media have confirmed the development.
Hemant Jain has come on board Leo Burnett Mumbai as Executive Creative Director. He moves from Wieden+Kennedy, London. He was earlier with the W+K Amsterdam office. A writer-cum-art director-cum illustrator, Jain’s distinct style has won countless number of international awards and recognition.
Adhir Bhogte is joining Meow FM as National Sales Head. He takes charge from December 14, 2009. Bhogte’s appointment comes close on the heels of Vehrnon Ibrahim joining Meow FM as National Programming Head.
Vehrnon Ibrahim is joining Meow FM as National Programming Head. He takes charge from January 4, 2010 and will be reporting to Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group. He takes over from Priya Baweja, who was National Programming Head till six months back. Ibrahim had put in his papers at Radio One earlier this month after a two-year stint.
Krishnendu Ghosh and Prashant Mishra have quit MOMS, the out-of-home specialist unit from Madison in Delhi, to join Nabendu Bhattacharyya’s recently set up Milestone Brandcom. Senior Sources close to the development confirmed the movements.
Rajasthan Royals has announced the appointment of Sean Morris as CEO. Morris takes charge with immediate effect and will be reporting to Manoj Badale, Chairman, Rajasthan Royals. Prior to Morris, Badale was CEO of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise in addition to being the Chairman.
Cartier Middle East has appointed Louis Ferla, as its new Managing Director for Cartier Middle East & India, taking over from Patrick Normand. Ferla took charge from November 1. He was previously Managing Director for Cartier Taiwan and has been working for almost 15 years in the Greater China Region (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), including 10 years for the Richemont Group. Throughout his career, Ferla has developed strong skills in retail and marketing, including strategic planning, cost efficiency and operations management. For the past few years, Cartier has invested in expanding its boutique network in the Middle East and opened 14 boutiques in the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon and India.
