Arindam Sarkar, formerly Senior Planning Director at Ogilvy Delhi, has joined BBDO India as Vice President, Strategic Planning. Ajai Jhala, CEO, BBDO India, has confirmed this development. In a parallel development, Sangeet Pillai, Director - Strategy Planning at BBDO India, is moving back to the US after completing a successful two-year stint with Omnicom’s youngest agency.
BloombergUTV has roped in Manoj Padmanabhan as Vice President, Sales. He moves from Ten Sports, where he was Director, Ad Sales. At BloombergUTV, Padmanabhan’s main mandate would be to monetise its revenue stream.
After a stint of nearly one and half years with Network18, Gaurav Arora has quit the company to join WWM (Worldwide Media) as Head of Northern Ad Sales. Arora will be reporting to Sohan Singh, Business Head - North India, WWM, and will be based out of Delhi.

Network18 has announced senior management re-alignment, re-inforcing the focus on its web and mobile businesses and digital convergence at the group. Lakshmi Narasimhan, who was earlier heading Infomedia18, will now move in as CEO of Web18. Surya Mantha, who was earlier CEO of Web18, has now been put in charge of convergence initiatives and re-designated as Executive Director, Convergence, Network18.
It is learnt from reliable sources that Manish Porwal, CEO, Percept Talent Management (PTM), has quit and January 6, 2010 happens to be his last day in his current role. However, it is learnt that Porwal may continue in an advisory position. This development comes just a day after Vinita Bangard, COO, PTM, had put in her papers.

MakeMyTrip has announced the elevation of Amit Saberwal to Senior Vice President (Retail and Distribution). In this role, Saberwal will be handling national retail and distribution channels. He was formerly Vice President of Retail and Business Development at MakeMyTrip. He has over 18 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry.
Rupam Ganguly, Grey Worldwide’s Delhi Branch Head, has put in his papers. He had joined Grey Delhi operations in 2007. Prior to Grey, Ganguly was Marketing Director, APAC, Philips Electronics, Singapore. He began his career with McCann Erickson. After two years, he moved to Everest Brand Solutions and then moved to Mudra. After this, Ganguly moved to Lowe Bangalore, where he spent five years, working mainly on the Britannia account. Currently, he is serving his notice period at Grey India till January 2010.
Sanjaya Baru has taken charge as the new Editor of Business Standard from January 1, 2010. He succeeds TN Ninan, who has been the Editor since July 1993. Ninan will continue to lead the organisation as Chairman and Editorial Director of Business Standard Ltd.
Sahara India Pariwar has appointed Sanjeev Srivastava as CEO and Editor-in-Chief, heading all media related activities of the Sahara Group, while Upendra Rai has been appointed as Editor and News Director. The two will be reporting directly to Subrata Roy, Chairman of the Sahara Group.
Radio Indigo has appointed a new team of executives in Bangalore. Carl Avari has been appointed as Vice-President - Operations of Radio Indigo. Avari will oversee operations in Bangalore as well as Goa. Also among the newly appointed is Stanley Simon, who would undertake all marketing activities in the station.
It is learnt from sources close to the development that Deepak Lamba is all set to join BloombergUTV as Business Head. He is currently serving his notice period as Director of Viacom Brand Solutions at MTV Networks India. Meanwhile, BloombergUTV is also on the lookout for a new sales head, who will be reporting to Lamba.
