Broadcast software company RCS has been working with Nokia to roll out the next generation visual radio experience for radio listeners and cell-phone users worldwide. Visual radio enables mobile device users to receive FM radio broadcasts with fully synchronised interactive graphical content.
Big FM Bangalore has launched a Kannada podcast service on its website www.big927fm.com. Listeners can log on to www.big927fm.com, download the audio file and listen to it on the computer or download it on their iPod using iTune.
Entertainment Network (India) Ltd (ENIL), promoters of Radio Mirchi, has reported a 30 per cent rise in its revenues at Rs 53.2 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007. The company’s net profit has, however, dropped 87 per cent to Rs 64 lakh, while EBITDA stood at Rs 8.2 crore.

TDSAT has ordered a stay on the ban imposed by the I&B Ministry on Red FM, whereby the radio station will continue to be aired at least till the next hearing on November 13, 2007. The TDSAT will have to rely on the Indian Penal Code to determine whether the remarks on ‘Indian Idol’ winner Prashant Tamang made by an RJ of Red FM were derogatory or not, since there are no existing guidelines.
Lenovo and Radio Indigo have joined hands to broadcast from the DJ console located at Lenovo’s retail outlet at Cunningham Road in Bangalore, from October 1-6, from 7 am to 8 pm. The set-up includes a DJ console station atop a life-size model of the Lenovo Audio DJ laptop.
Following the show cause notice issued by the I&B Ministry to Red FM for an allegedly derogatory remark made by an RJ against ‘Indian Idol’ Prashant Tamang, the TDSAT on October 1 has allowed the Ministry to go ahead with its proceedings against Red FM. However, until the next hearing before the TDSAT on October 4, the Tribunal has ordered a stay on the seven-day ban that the Ministry has imposed on Red FM.
Radio City MQ, a corporate music quiz, has completed the first of its three-city contest. Teams from BizTruss Integrated Services and Wipro Technologies were declared as the Bangalore regional winners. The action now moves to Delhi, with the regional finals on October 5.
