Hit FM is on the lookout for a Delhi band that could match the legendary Carlos Santana. The FM station has launched ‘The ultimate Santana challenge’, wherein Delhi’s music bands would compete for a Paul Reed Smith guitar autographed by Santana. Idea Cellular along with Seagram’s Fuel, Zen Estilo and Sony BMG are partnering in this initiative.
Radio Mirchi has tied up exclusively with Ramesh Aravind’s third directorial venture ‘Accident’. ‘Accident’ is an action thriller inspired by real life incidents bringing about the thriller genre into Kannada films after a long time. Private FM radio players feel neglected post the announcement of the Union Budget 2008-09 on February 29, 2008. Radio players were expecting some reduction in customs duties, but were disappointed as nothing specific was announced for the industry.
Radio City’s hunt for India’s best Hindi band stopped at Bangalore-based Swarathma, which was declared Radio City 91.1 FM Best Hindi Band. Yeshua came in second, while another Bangalore-based band Ek came in third. Swarathma has also won an album deal with EMI.

Radio NRI, a service of NRI Media, Inc., has announced that its Radio NRI 24x7 channel is being featured on the homepage of AOLRadio.com. The channel is also featured in the AOL Radio block on the AOL.com homepage. Radio NRI is the sole provider of Indian radio for AOL Radio.
TRAI released its recommendations for Phase III of FM radio licencing, where the regulatory body has mooted that the geographical basis for private FM radio bidding in the future may be changed from ‘city’ to ‘district’. TRAI has also recommended a hike in FDI cap to 26 per cent from 20 per cent for FM radio licence holders.
