Radio players for electronic measurement, but cost is a concern

TAM Media Research’s radio arm Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) is embarking on a pilot to gauge listenership through phone meters, and study whether listeners are conducive to this methodology. Radio players believe that electronic meters are a step in the right direction, but the cost implication does not make it viable for a market like India.

RAM to amalgamate AdEx and listenership data; to test phone meters as well

Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) is set to upgrade itself some more. TAM Media Research, RAM’s parent company, is working on amalgamating AdEx data with listenership data to assist radio executives at the planning level. In another step towards upgradation, RAM also intends to conduct a pilot with phone meters in India in the last quarter of 2008.

IRF 2008: Red FM shines at Indian Excellence in Radio Awards

The India Radio Forum 2008, held in Mumbai on May 30, culminated in the Indian Excellence in Radio Awards 2008. Red FM led the winners’ list with nine awards, followed by Radio Mirchi, which bagged four awards. This year saw the introduction of four new categories, and a total of 26 awards were given out.

Licenses have converted to operational stations for major FM players

Radio FM players are wasting no time in making their national presence felt. Radio City has launched in all the 20 cities that it had licenses for. Radio Mirchi, too, has completed its rollout with all 32 stations going operational by February 2008. Big FM has only Shimla to launch, following which all 45 stations would be done with that. My FM, which had 17 licences, too, has completed it rollout process.
