Going by the latest RAM report on morning listeners (from 7 am to 11 am) in the Delhi market, Radio Mirchi has emerged as the dominant player, followed by AIR FM2- Gold, Fever FM, Red FM, Radio City, Radio One, Big FM, Meow FM and Hit FM.

Radio Mirchi is a hot favourite among the morning listeners in Kolkata, followed by Big FM and Friends FM. Red FM is comfortably placed in the fourth position followed by Amaar FM, Fever FM, Meow FM, AIR FM2- Gold, AIR FM1- Rainbow, Akashvani, Power FM and Vividh Bharati. This is as per the 12-week trend of RAM ratings focusing on day part 7 am to 11 am, all place of listening, all people 12 plus.

Following up on our RAM reports, the focus this time is on the morning listeners (7 am to 11 am) in the Mumbai market from week 35 to week 46, all people, 12 plus, and place of listening, all show Radio City leading the charts followed by Red FM and Big FM fighting for the top spot. Radio Mirchi, Radio One, Fever and Meow follow.

In a move that could hit the introduction of news on private FM radio, TRAI has accepted the views of the Government on limiting the sources of news and current affairs for FM radio and has recommended that a review for expansion of sources may be considered after three years.

The I&B Ministry has amended the All India Radio Code allowing political advertisements. Accordingly, such advertisements will now be allowed to be carried on AIR as well as private FM radio since they, too, adhere to the AIR Code. Such advertisement shall be subject to pre-broadcast scrutiny by the Election Commission.

AROI has officially launched a campaign to evangelise radio, enhancing awareness about the effectiveness of radio as a public broadcasting medium. Initially print and radio will be used of which a print campaign has already been initiated. Euro RSCG is the creative agency for this campaign, while MPG is the media agency.

AIR FM2 Gold comes a distant second. Fever FM has managed to maintain its third slot, with Red FM, Big FM, Radio City and Radio One closely competing for the fourth slot. Meow FM, AIR FM1 Rainbow, Hit FM, Vividh Bharati and Akashvani follow.

The FM market in Kolkata has been seeing a steady order for sometime now, at least in terms of numbers. The 13-week steady trend begins from week 31 and continues in the current week 43 as per TAM Media Research’s Radio Audience Measurement (RAM). Radio Mirchi is the No. 1 FM station in Kolkata, followed by Big FM, Friends FM and Red FM.

According to the Radio Audience Measurement (RAM), the radio listenership service from TAM Media Research, Big 92.7 FM is the clear leader in the Bangalore market. In the past 12 weeks, it has maintained a steady position of the leader and with every passing week it has also managed to widen the gap with its competitor, Radio Mirchi.
