Joseph Eapen, who had joined Media Research Users Council (MRUC) as CEO in April 2010, has resigned. MRUC accepted his resignation on December 23, 2010. A MRUC official has confirmed the development to exchange4media.
Even as Maa Television Network is gearing to launch new channels, it has lost its Director and CEO Sharrath Marar, who has put in his papers, according to sources close to the development. It is not known where Marar is headed next. He has been with Maa Television Network for close to four years. When contacted, Marar declined to comment.
Param Saikia has joined JWT Malaysia as CEO, replacing Subhendu Mukherjee, who is relocating to JWT Indonesia as Strategic Planning Director. This was announced by Michael Maedel, President, JWT Asia Pacific. In his new role, Saikia will partner with Edwin Leong, Deputy Chairman/ ECD.
After a stint of more than three years, Neville Bastawala, Head of Marketing at Mid-Day, has put in his papers. While Bastawala confirmed his movement to exchange4media, he refrained from divulging his next destination.
J Shekar has been roped in as Chief Operating Officer of Maa Television Network Ltd. He will be reporting to Sharrath Marar, Director and CEO, Maa TV Network Ltd. Shekar will be based in Hyderabad. He was earlier Business Head of Zee Kannada. He has confirmed his appointment to exchange4media.
Well known journalist and Editor (Languages) at the India Today Group, Prabhu Chawla, is set to move out of the group. Industry sources have confirmed that Chawla is joining The New Indian Express newspaper. While it is not known what would be Chawla’s designation, he will be replacing Aditya Sinha, who is joining DNA as Editor-in-Chief from January 17, 2011.
Vishweshwar Bhat, Editor of Vijay Karnataka, has quit the organisation. Replacing him is E Raghavan, who has taken over as Consulting Editor for Vijay Karnataka. Raghavan also continues to be the Consulting Editor for Vijaya Next.
PerceptH has roped in Joydeep Dasgupta as its new COO for the West region. Dasgupta moves from Mudra, Chennai, where he was heading the Chennai office. He will be based out of Mumbai and will be reporting to Prabhakar Mundkur, CEO, PerceptH.
Graham Kelly has returned to Ogilvy as Executive Creative Director, India, for OgilvyOne Worldwide. In his earlier stint with Ogilvy, Kelly had worked in Ogilvy Direct, Ogilvy Advertising and had played a pivotal role in the Ogilvy network as Regional ECD for Ogilvy Interactive across Asia.

D Rajappa, President, Everest Brand Solutions has been moved to Rediffusion Y&R to head the agency. Dhunji Wadia, who had quit JWT India six months back, replaces D Rajappa at Everest.
R Jagannathan, who was earlier Executive Editor at DNA, will be joining Web18 as Editor, Business & Financial media. Web18 operates financial portals and services including Moneycontrol.com and Poweryourtrade.com. Jagannathan’s mandate is to provide editorial direction and manage content strategy for existing financial brands in the Web18 portfolio as well as spearhead new initiatives on the content side which the network will announce soon.

After a nearly four-year stint at Everest Brand Solutions, N Padmakumar (Paddy), the National Creative Director, is moving on, but within the same group. Padmakumar’s next assignment is with Rediffusion as its National Creative Head.
Charles Cadell, CEO, Lowe Lintas India, is completing his term with the company on December 31, 2010. Following this, Cadell will exit the agency and take another assignment overseas. Joseph George, who has been Deputy CEO with the company for some time now, would step into Cadell’s shoes. Cadell has confirmed the development to exchange4media.
Rahul Dev has put in his papers at Hindi news channel CNEB as Editor-in-Chief and CEO. He has joined Aaj Samaj as Editor-in-Chief, where he will be taking care of both the newspaper and magazine domains.
Avinash Kaul has joined Times Television Network as Chief Executive Officer of Zoom Entertainment Network Limited. Prior to this, for a brief period, Kaul was the CEO of SaharaOne where he headed three channels - SaharaOne, Filmy and Firangi. Kaul has 12 years of experience in the television business and has worked with channels such as SaharaOne and NDTV Media.
ESPN-STAR Sports (ESS) has appointed Aloke Malik as Managing Director of its India operations for ESPN Software India (ESI). Malik will head the management of ESI, which oversees the distribution, sales and marketing of its multi-media brands. He joins ESI from Idea Cellular.
J Shekar, Business Head of Zee Kannada, has put in his papers. He has been with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd for more than a decade. It is not known where Shekar is headed next, but he will continue to operate in the same space. He is currently serving his notice period and will be with Zee till the end of January 2011.
Gautam Sharma has joined India TV as Senior Vice-President, Sales. He moves from Star News, where he was working as Assistant Vice-President and Head of Revenue (North) for four years. Sharma has also worked with Aaj Tak, Star TV and Planman Media.
Manoj Sharma has quit India TV as Group Business Head. He had joined India TV in January 2010 and has been responsible for the business expansion of all group companies, including Independent News, India TV Interactive, Independent Media, Studio Brahma and India TV Mission.
