MPG India is living an interesting year. The recently concluded Assembly Elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh did not significantly spike the ratings of the news genre, but that didn’t stop players in the genre to outdo each other. Amongst the English general news channels, Times Now garnered the most rating points on October 13, followed by CNN-IBN and NDTV 24x7. In the lower order, Headlines Today saw a significant jump in ratings on that day.

Aaj Tak has garnered the highest shares on Assembly Election day amongst the national Hindi general news channels in the mass C&S 15+ target, and the core news TG (C&S ABC 25+). STAR News and India TV follow. However, when the entire week’s numbers are observed, India TV takes the top slot, followed by Aaj Tak and STAR News. DD News scores high in core news TG.

According to RAM data 20 weeks (week 22 to week 41, all people 12 years and above, all places of listening, day part – Monday to Sunday – 6 pm to 10 pm), Radio Mirchi and Red FM are neck and neck for the top slot. However, Big FM, Radio City and Fever FM are also not far behind when it comes to attracting listeners during the evening primetime.

Laptops/ notebooks category led IT sector advertising in print during this period with Dell Computer Corporation emerging as the top advertiser. Dell Inspiron 15 occupied the top position in the list of new IT products advertised in print during January-August ’09.
