Cannes Lions 2007: Shortlists announced for Press, Media, Radio and Outdoor?blur=25

Even as every one is waiting to know whether or not India has any wins in the Promo and Direct Lions category, the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2007 has already announced the shortlists for four categories. In Press, India has 20 entries in the shortlist, in Outdoor there are 14 entries, in Media Lions there are seven entries, while in Radio, there are five entries in the shortlist.

Overview of advertising in Home Appliances sector in Print: AdEx study?blur=25

The period Jan-Apr ‘07 saw a 14% rise in Home Appliances advertising, with television sets contributing nearly 50% of the ad volumes. Publications from South and West zones got the maximum share of this segment’s advertising. Mirc Electronics and Samsung India were the top 2 advertisers. Interestingly, more than 50% of ad volumes was contributed by Sales Promotional activities.

Cannes Lions 2007: 8 Indian entries in Direct; only 3 in Promo shortlists?blur=25

The first set of shortlists has been announced at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2007 and the categories under the scanner are Promos and Direct Lions. The scene is not so bright for India in Promos with only three entries shortlisted. Direct isn’t much different either with only eight entries making it to the shortlist. The winners will be announced on June 18, 2007.

Cyrus Broacha brays for ‘Donkey’ in Hindi version of ‘Shrek’?blur=25

Cartoon Network premiered the hugely successful animated movie ‘Shrek’ on June 17. To bond better with Indian kids, the channel adapted the movie in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu apart from English, with the inimitable Cyrus Broacha lending his voice to ‘Donkey’, one of the key protagonists, for the Hindi version of ‘Shrek’.
