Radio Misty is donning a new look and feel from this Independence Day. The FM station is using both on-air and on ground extensively as a promotional tool to spread the awareness of the revamp. Radio Misty will be also introducing new shows such as ‘Aap ki Mehfil’.

In possibly one of the largest of its kind re-branding exercises, all 38 FM stations operating under the SFM brand have now be rebranded as Red FM. These include 23 FM stations of South Asia FM Ltd (SAFL), 14 stations of KAL Radio Ltd, and one station of Udaya FM Pvt Ltd. With these inclusions, the number of FM stations under the Red FM brand stand at 41. Red FM has three FM stations in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.

The morning listenership on Delhi’s FM radio space belongs to Radio Mirchi, Fever FM and AIR FM2 Gold, with Mirchi maintaining a clear lead over the rest. This was revealed by the RAM data for all people 12 years and above, all places of listening, from week 15 to week 30, day part 7 am to 11am.

Hello FM has entered into a strategic content tie-up with BBC Radio, a move that has been done keeping an eye on the Phase III of FM rollout. Meanwhile, the FM venture of Malar Publications has also been rechristened as Radio Hello. Rajeev Nambiar, CEO, Radio Hello, shares the FM player’s growth plans with exchange4media.com.

As part of the fourth anniversary celebrations of its breakfast show, ‘Morning No. 1’, Red FM has launched the ‘Malishka ko bataun kya?’ campaign to provide listeners with a platform to express themselves. The concept is said to have taken shape after building Red FM as a ‘station for expression’ for the masses over the course of four years.

Affected by weakened revenue and a tough advertising market, Entertainment Network India Ltd’s radio business, Radio Mirchi, has reported a net loss of Rs 1.45 crore in Q1 of FY10, as against a profit of Rs 0.70 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

The 14-week trend in the Mumbai market as per to the latest RAM data tracking morning listenership shows Radio Mirchi, Red FM and AIR FM2 Gold closely competing for the top slot, with Radio Mirchi nudging past the rest to emerge as the No. 1 FM station among the morning listeners in week 28.

The 13-week trends as per RAM data for weeks 15 to 27 has put Radio Mirchi in the numero uno position once again, this is probably the second time that the FM station has become No. 1 in all four markets. exchange4media spoke to some media planners on what it means for the FM station.

Radio One has registered a top line growth of 8 per cent in the Q1 ended June 30, 2009, over the corresponding quarter in the last fiscal, while its expenses were 2 per cent lower in Q1. The company has also shown an exponential growth in operating profit before license fee.

Big FM, the radio initiative from Adlabs Films Ltd, on July 10 announced the launch of its FM station in Shimla. This launch marks the completion of Big FM’s Phase II licenses and thus the FM player expands its network to the 45th FM station across India. This also marks the entry of India’s first private FM station in Himachal Pradesh.

Radio has become infotainment now. With competition and so many different contests happening, the winner may just get complete dowry at one go. You can vent your feelings on radio, laugh, listen to music, talk and drive .Radio is cheap and you can carry it anywhere. It is one on one and means different things for different people. Nowadays, jocks want to get into production and TV and work out of prime cities.

Radio One has re-launched itself in Mumbai with the product promise of ‘maximum music fataafat’ and a tangible promise of minimum 13 songs every hour. The focus of the re-launch is to give the FM station a new vibrant musical face in Mumbai, especially the SEC AB 18-34 segment.
