Rajiv Khurana, who was working with Dentsu Marcom as Media Director, has come on board of MindShare as Business Director. In his new role, Khurana will be looking after the Frito Lay division of the Pepsi food business and Lufthansa. He will be reporting to Sundar Raman, General Manager, MindShare, Delhi. Khurana attributed three reasons for his move. He said, “MindShare is one of the largest companies. The kind of portfolio that I have got and the job responsibilities are some of the reasons that prompted me to take this decision.” Khurana who brings with him ten years of experience, was associated with Dentsu for two years where he was instrumental in building up a media department and worked on brands like Sony Ericsson, Honda Motors, among others.

Vasundhara Raghavan, Secretary General of Media Research Users Council (MRUC) has left the Council to explore other growth opportunities and new challenges. “MRUC has been very close to my heart all these years. I loved MRUC and the people I was associated with and will forever cherish memories of the time that I have spent here,” she said, adding, “MRUC opened to me a whole wide world of opportunities. I enjoyed warmth, love and respect. It gave me the honour of being the Secretary General of the council”. Raghavan, however, refused to divulge further information about her future plans.

Sunil Gupta, former, VP External Affairs, South Asia for Coke India has joined Dish TV as Managing Director. Gupta will initially be responsible for increasing Dish TV’s subscriber base and penetration in the country. He will be working along with Sunil Khanna, the CEO of Zee’s DTH service. Gupta began his career with The Times of India, before joining Dainik Jagaran, where he was MD and Managing Editor, Delhi. Gupta also had a stint at Jain TV as COO. Gupta joined Coke as Director and went on to become VP, Indian operations. He was with the company for the last four years.

I have seen lots of different studies that change, depending on what you look, creativity or size – the basic point is that there are three major agencies and we are one of them and that is fine. I’m more concerned about the quality of the product… If I were to draw a comparison between O&M and Lowe, there is more focus on brilliant effective work for our major clients at Lowe as opposed to O&M, which has spent more time on winning creative awards. The idea has worked, it has made the agency hot and interesting and that is great.
