STAR banks on music for its new 9pm offering 'Millie'?blur=25

Star Plus' primetime has seen a facelift in 2005. The channel first reduced its one-hour weeklies to half-hour bringing 'Kkavyanjali' in the 9.30 pm band and come April 4, 2005, these weeklies will be wrapped to house 'Millie' in the 9.00 pm slot. While the on-air promos have begun, the channel gets into the second peg of its marketing campaign today around the new show.

TAM data show impressive weekend numbers for mass entertainment channels?blur=25

Weekends are turning to be better and better for Sony. To begin with the channel's big ticket show Indian Idol is rocking more than ever. Filmfare has done well and weekend shows like CID too gave a TVR of 7+. What is perhaps better news is that other mass channels haven't lost shares in the weekends, making this one of the best weekend for Hindi mass entertainment.

New comedy shows on STAR and Sony open to good numbers?blur=25

Comedy as a genre wasn't playing much role for Hindi mass entertainment of late. However, with both STAR and Sony launching comedies on their weekends, the genre gained some buzz and if the opening numbers are anything to go by, the audience evidently do want to sample the Indian programmers' humorous side.
