HPCL plans to increase the number of ‘Club HP’ brand outlets to around 2,000 from the present 1,600 by the end of the current financial year. The company also plans to increase the number of new look visual outlets in the country from 200 to around 500 in the next five months.

Last year, after the three-year association with Tata ended, there was a possibility of Chennai losing out on hosting South-Asia's only ATP tournament as there wasn't a title sponsor. That didn't happen. The State government stepped in and, along with a consortium of sponsors, ensured that the event stayed with the city in its new avatar as the Chennai Open.

The new DAVP panel for the rate structure will be addressing the concerns of all medium and small newspapers, informed Director General, DAVP, Swagat Ghosh at the INS seminar. Ghosh refused to accept that the Government body was unfair to small and medium newspapers in distributing social message advertisements.

Emami’s new ayurvedic kitty (which includes laxatives, digestive drops, memory pills etc) has been bagged by rmg david. The move was confirmed by Aditya V Agarwal, Director, Emami. As for the size of the business acquired by rmg david, Agarwal pegs it at an approximate figure of Rs. 10 crore. The commercials for the ayurvedic range would break towards March 2005.

The print media is alive and kicking. And the electronic and web media seems hardly a threat to the print media – this was the overall consensus at a seminar on small and medium newspapers organised by the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) on Monday. The daylong deliberations highlighted the survival concerns of small and medium-size newspapers, and experts pointed out that newsroom and production technology could come to their aid.

We’ve achieved a position where we can safely claim that ABP sets the agenda for Bengal. And, in the entire mission, our stronghold has been the editorial wing. Leave apart the bulk of the Bengali-speaking community for whom the daily is a part and parcel of everyday life, even the ones who are strongly against us cannot afford to put down the paper for a single day.
