Coca-Cola company chairman and chief executive Doug Daft said on Thursday he plans to retire at the end of the year, citing his “own personal wishes.” Mr Daft did not elaborate on his decision in a statement issued by the company, the world’s biggest soft drink concern.

CNBC-TV18 has announced the launch of Trial By Fire, a B-school quiz show hosted by Derek O’Brien. The 11-part series will capture the battle through eight quarterfinals, four semifinals and the grand finals. The show premieres on February 21, 2004 at 10.30 p.m. Original episodes of the series will play on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 p.m. and will be repeated every Wednesday and Thursday at 11 p.m.

TRAI to decide on Indo-Pak series telecast next week?blur=25

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is examining the issue of giving Prasar Bharati the terrestrial rights to the Indo-Pak series and will formulate its views in the next few days. Currently, the exclusive cricket rights are with the Dubai-based Taj Television, which owns Ten Sports. Despite several rounds of negotiations between Ten Sports and Prasar Bharati, the former has not agreed to offer the terrestrial rights to the latter.

The Zee Telefilms board cleared a capital restructuring programme. Under the plan, the company will write down its investment in its overseas subsidiaries by Rs 1771.6 crore. This is being done to reflect the “intrinsic value of business”. It is also restructuring the capital of Siticable, which has an accumulated loss of Rs 149.1 crore including dimunition in value of certain moveable assets (to the tune of Rs 89.5 crore).
