International: Interpublic drives through Brands Hatch sale?blur=25

Interpublic, the advertising and sports marketing giant that over the past two years fell victim to the catastrophic slump in both sectors, today finally sold legendary motor sports circuit Brands Hatch but said it remained committed to Silverstone and the British grand prix. Brands Hatch and three smaller motor racing circuits at Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and Snetterton have been sold to a new company called MotorSport Vision for an undisclosed sum.

Indian BPO sector to grow 60% in 2004: Giga?blur=25

Business process outsourcing sector in India will grow by at least 60 per cent during 2004, IT tracking firm Giga said in a report. Given the cost benefits and the early successes that Fortune-class companies have had with Indian IT-enabled service outsourcing, this market will grow dramatically during the next several years, Giga analyst Stephanie Moore said.

Cell user base at 29.77 m in Jan?blur=25

As many as 1.59 million additional subscribers have taken fresh mobile connections during January 2004, taking the total cellular subscriber base to 29.77 million across the country. As per the latest statistics released by the COAI and ABTO, while the aggregate GSM cellular subscriber base has been placed at 23.36 million, the CDMA subscriber figure is lower at 6.41 million.

Hero Motors plans co-branded models launch by year-end?blur=25

The Rs 7,800-crore Hero Motors Group plans to introduce three new models with the technical know-how from Italian two-wheeler giant Aprilia Spa. The models will be introduced in the premium segment in the domestic market. Aprilia is the second largest manufacturer of scooters and motorcycles in Europe with an annual turnover of over 800 million euro.

Power brands nurture GlaxoSmithKline net 42%?blur=25

The strategy to prioritise 30-odd power brands combined with improved operational efficiencies to give GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd (GSKPL) a 42 per cent growth in net profit, at Rs 182 crore, for the year ended 2003. While total sales registered a growth of 3.8 per cent, pharmaceuticals grew by 5.8 per cent over last year. The pharmaceuticals business segment, at Rs 971 crore, constitutes about 81 per cent of total sales.
