ICICI Bank said its credit cards user base has crossed the two-million mark, making it the leading cards player in the country. A Citibank spokesman, however, said the foreign bank already has over two million credit cards. ICICI Bank and Citibank have been neck-to-neck competing in the credit card industry for some time.

Sahara Media & Entertainment is renegotiating the valuation for its acquisition of a 20-30 per cent stake in Adlab’s wholly owned subsidiary Entertainment One. A fresh valuation is needed as the proposed deal will exclude mega movie project ’The Rising,’ which is part-funded by Entertainment One.

Uncertainty prevails over the implementation of the controversial conditional access system (CAS) in New Delhi with the Centre on Wednesday calling for a review on the issue. The circulation of Indian newspapers jumped 24 per cent to 142 million in 2002-03 against 115.3 million in 2001-02, according to the 47th ‘Press in India’ report brought out by the Registrar, Newspapers of India. The jump in readership is attributed to a larger number of publishers submitting their annual statements for the survey.
