PK appointed new GroupM CEO as Sam Singh moves on to TikTok parent company

Sameer Singh (Sam Singh) has quit from his position as CEO at GroupM to join ByteDance the company that owns TikTok. Prasanth Kumar who is presently serving as the COO, South Asia will be taking over as the new CEO. Singh will leave GroupM at the end of June. Kumar will take up the CEO role with immediate effect.

Excited about the new role Prasanth Kumar said, “I am humbled at the opportunity to take on the CEO role for GroupM in one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing markets in the world. When it comes to advertising and media, India has made its mark on the global stage and success with our consumers is of vital importance to some of the world’s biggest advertisers. It’s been thrilling to be with GroupM as we’ve led the way and there is much more to come.”

As COO, Kumar was responsible for ensuring client expectations are reliably met by continuously improving processes. In his role as COO Kumar was guiding and leading the teams across OpCos, Trading, and Specialised Units.

It was only in May 2018, GroupM announced the appointment of Singh as CEO of its South Asia operations. Singh was leading the continued development of GroupM’s data-centric enablement for its agencies Based out of Delhi (Gurugram), Sam Singh reported to CVL Srinivas, country manager, WPP India, and Mark Patterson, CEO GroupM Asia Pacific.

Sam Singh joined GroupM from Google India where he was Director- Sales, responsible for the agency business. In the last 25 years in the industry, Singh has worked across markers like India, China, UK, USA, and the Middle East. An alumnus of IIM Calcutta Sam has worked in various roles across brands like at Gillette, P&G, GSK, and Google.

Mark Patterson CEO GroupM Asia Pacific said, “PK has performed to the highest levels for fifteen years in GroupM and agency leadership roles. He is uniquely and perfectly positioned to take on the CEO role, working closely with myself and CVL Srinivas (our WPP Country Manager), our local leadership team, clients and media partners. To ensure a smooth transition, Kumar and Singh will be closely working together. Talking of the development Singh said, “Heartiest congratulations to PK on his promotion. Advertising professional and art collector Swapan Seth has announced the launch of his new book COOL. The book is described as "a ready reckoner to the hip and the happening, of the known and the very unknown."

The book is a reflection of the author's "eclectic taste across categories: from boltholes to exotic hideaways."

COOL has been published by Simon & Schuster India and is available on Amazon.

Seth is an ad veteran with a long and illustrious career in the industry. He became the youngest-ever Creative Director at Clarion at age 24. He was VP at 26 at Trikaya Grey. Two years later, he started his agency Equus.

He writes for publications such as The Economic Times, Hindustan Times and India Today. This is his second book and he has previously published THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

e4m Staff Disney Star has signed nine broadcast and digital streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Wild Stone and Thums Up have come on board for the upcoming tournament.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Disney Star has sought Rs 26 crore for the co-presenting sponsorship on TV and Rs 30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar.

According to industry sources, the associate sponsorship on Star Sports has been priced at Rs 19.66 crore, whereas for the ‘powered by’ sponsorship on Disney+ Hotstar, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 18 crore.

As per the information available with exchange4media, Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship tiers-- co-presenting (Rs 30 crore), powered by (Rs 18 crore) and associate sponsorship (Rs 12 crore). The broadcaster is offering an estimated reach of 120-140 million for co-presenting sponsors, 90-100 million for powered by and 60-70 million for associate sponsorship.

A spot buy for 10 seconds has been priced at Rs 25 lakh for the India vs Pakistan matches, while for the non-India matches, the ad rate for 10 second is Rs 2.3 lakh. The India matches plus the final for ODIs has been priced at Rs 17 lakh per 10 seconds.

Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 30 August, 2023, to September 17, 2023.
