The One Show 2008 shortlist has been announced. The shortlist is a semi-finalist list. India’s prospects look better this year with 38 entries across 18 categories making it to this semi-finalist list. In all, 11 Indian agencies have made it to the shortlist. Last year at the One Show, though India’s Contract Advertising had won a Pencil, on an overall basis there wasn’t much to cheer about.

The One Show 2008 shortlist has been announced. The shortlist is a semi-finalist list. India’s prospects look better this year with 38 entries across 18 categories making it to this semi-finalist list. In all, 11 Indian agencies have made it to the shortlist. Last year at the One Show, though India’s Contract Advertising had won a Pencil, on an overall basis there wasn’t much to cheer about.

O&M, which bagged 58 metals at the recently concluded GoaFest 2008, has 10 entries in the shortlist, followed by Leo Burnett with seven entries and Saatchi and Saatchi with five entries. JWT and Rediffusion have four entries each, while Contract Advertising has three entries. Publicis Ambience, Bates, Euro RSCG India, Joshbro Communications and Vikas Chemjong are the other Indian agencies that have got one entry each.

O&M’s Tension commercial for Neo Sports finds mention under two categories – Television: Over 30 - Single and Television: Over 30 – Campaign. O&M’s print ads for Mattel Toys (Hot Wheels ‘Bed’ campaign) and IBM (the Words campaign) have made it to the shortlist under different categories. For Outdoor- Single category, O&M’s campaign ‘Hutch MSN Pigeons’ for Hutchison Essar has made it to the shortlist. Under Innovative advertising, O&M has two entries – Getty Images Window Stickers, and the entry titled Swimming Poll for HSBC. Also under categories such as Public Service / Political Print: Newspaper or magazine – Campaign and Public Service / Political Print: Collateral – Single, the agency has managed two entries for its clients ORBO and Udyaan Care, respectively.

Leo Burnett’s work on Luxor Writing Instruments, which had brought laurels for the agency at GoaFest 2008 with two Grand Prix, has earned the agency five entries at the One Show 2008 shortlist under ‘Consumer Newspaper: Full page or spread – Single; Consumer Newspaper: Full Page or spread – Campaign; and Collateral: Posters – Single categories.

Saatchi & Saatchi has five entries in total, out of which there are three print ads – Eclipse campaign for Olay Complete, UV Protection, and two entries for Cox and Kings titled ‘America’ and ‘Dodo’. The agency also has two entries – ‘Monuments’ campaign for Cox and Kings, and Zebra Crossing for Ariel Detergent in Consumer Newspaper: Full page or Spread Campaign and Outdoor Single categories, respectively.

JWT’s four entries include Flowers for Hindustan Unilever, Twins for GM Pens International, Starched for Leach & Weborny, and Traffic for Nike India, while Contract Advertising’s ads ‘Help Me Read this’ for Children of the world, ‘Mosquito’- television commercial for India Book Distributors, and Anti-Piracy for Cinema Paradise have made it to the list of semi-finalists.

Rediffusion’s works on ‘Sugar Free Ants Muffin’ for Zydus Cadila has earned the agency three entries, while its work for Amway India finds an entry in the Collateral: Posters – Single category. Publicis Ambience’s POP In-store work for Fizzique Gym also got nominated under Collateral: POP –In store –Single category.

Euro RSCG India has an entry in the Outdoor – Campaign category for its work on Reckitt Benckiser, while Bates David’s Tata AIG campaign finds entry in the ‘Innovative Use of Advertising’ category.

The finalists would be declared on May 5 in New York. This year, The One Club received 24,081 entries for all three shows from more than 60 countries around the world. The One Show awards programme is part of One Show Festival Week, which will also include One Show Design on May 6 at the Chelsea Art Museum and One Show Interactive on May 9 at the Nokia Theater.

Advertising professional and art collector Swapan Seth has announced the launch of his new book COOL. The book is described as "a ready reckoner to the hip and the happening, of the known and the very unknown."

The book is a reflection of the author's "eclectic taste across categories: from boltholes to exotic hideaways."

COOL has been published by Simon & Schuster India and is available on Amazon.

Seth is an ad veteran with a long and illustrious career in the industry. He became the youngest-ever Creative Director at Clarion at age 24. He was VP at 26 at Trikaya Grey. Two years later, he started his agency Equus.

e4m Staff Disney Star has signed nine broadcast and digital streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Wild Stone and Thums Up have come on board for the upcoming tournament.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Disney Star has sought Rs 26 crore for the co-presenting sponsorship on TV and Rs 30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar.

According to industry sources, the associate sponsorship on Star Sports has been priced at Rs 19.66 crore, whereas for the ‘powered by’ sponsorship on Disney+ Hotstar, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 18 crore.

As per the information available with exchange4media, Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship tiers-- co-presenting (Rs 30 crore), powered by (Rs 18 crore) and associate sponsorship (Rs 12 crore). The broadcaster is offering an estimated reach of 120-140 million for co-presenting sponsors, 90-100 million for powered by and 60-70 million for associate sponsorship.

A spot buy for 10 seconds has been priced at Rs 25 lakh for the India vs Pakistan matches, while for the non-India matches, the ad rate for 10 second is Rs 2.3 lakh. The India matches plus the final for ODIs has been priced at Rs 17 lakh per 10 seconds.

Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 30 August, 2023, to September 17, 2023.
