On World Music Day, FM stations all set to sing

World Music Day is all set to be celebrated by FM stations on June 21. Among others, MY FM, BIG FM and Radio City stations across India have planned special customised programming, special capsules celebrating the occasion, interesting trivia on music, contests and playing listeners’ favourite music all day long.

On World Music Day, FM stations all set to sing

World Music Day is all set to be celebrated by FM stations on June 21. Among others, MY FM, BIG FM and Radio City stations across India have planned special customised programming, special capsules celebrating the occasion, interesting trivia on music, contests and playing listeners’ favourite music all day long.

Speaking on the occasion, Harrish M. Bhatia, COO, MY FM, said, “Music is the soul of radio and so World Music Day naturally becomes a big opportunity of celebration for the industry as well as to provide choicest entertainment to the listeners.”

MY FM’s Jaipur station’s morning show Salaam Jaipur will be running an on-air contest wherein the song’s musical prelude would be played and listeners would be asked to identify the song. MY FM Ahmedabad station will play famous musicians’ bytes and then play their favourite songs. In PunjMY FM stations in Punjab will have a contest where in the listeners shall be asked to identify the musician on the basis of a song’s tune or the lyrics and shall be rewarded with music CDs or the gift vouchers of popular music stores.

BIG FM has lined up exciting on-air and off-air offerings. Anand Chakravarthy, VP-Marketing, said, “World Music Day is a perfect day to celebrate, recall and pay tribute to some great music over time and the people behind it. We have created some excellent programming mix for our listeners and we hope continue to do so thus living up to our brand line of Suno Sunao, Life Banao.”

In Delhi, BIG FM will present the ‘Feel the Music’ gala musical evening at the ‘West Gate Mall’, Rajouri Garden. Delhites will get to listen not only to celebrated singers but also by some very talented, visually impaired children. The station will also offer on-air content for its listeners starting from a ‘favourite category voting’ contest wherein listeners will vote for their favourite 100 Chartbuster song of a specific category, to announcing the most popular number and playing them.

BIG Mumbai will go ‘Tak-Din-a-Dhin with Big KaanSens’ with India’s crooners lending their voice for a back-to-back hourly performance at the Oberoi Mall, Goregaon. In Bangalore the station will celebrate the day by playing top 100 Kannada songs on-air, involving listener interaction. Chandigarh will be treated to performances by ‘Amul Voice of India’ winner Ishmeet and runner-up Harshit. People of Amritsar will get to enjoy the best DJ competition.

Mumbai’s Radio City is celebrating the occasion through a unique initiative, ‘Mast Mast Mumbai’, wherein listeners from across Mumbai are collaborating to compose a song which will become the Radio City World Music Day anthem. Mentored by Radio City’s RC live national finalist, Talaash, ten listeners from Mumbai came together to create an original song which reflects the spirit of Mumbai. This song will be broadcast all day long on World Music Day.

Radio City Chennai will have singer Haricharan join RJ Sulabha live in-studio on ‘Whatte Fun Weekends’ from 7 to 11 AM while Srilekha Parthasarathy will join RJ Gobi from 3 to7 PM. Hyderabad’s Radio City is showcasing the musical talents of singer Smitha on ‘Whatte Fun Weekends’ with RJ Akira from 9 to 11 AM while singer Sunita joins RJ Pranavi from 12 to 2 PM. Singer and music director Nihal will join RJ Gouthami for a chat on Whatte Fun Weekends from 5 to 7 PM.

Advertising professional and art collector Swapan Seth has announced the launch of his new book COOL. The book is described as "a ready reckoner to the hip and the happening, of the known and the very unknown."

The book is a reflection of the author's "eclectic taste across categories: from boltholes to exotic hideaways."

COOL has been published by Simon & Schuster India and is available on Amazon.

Seth is an ad veteran with a long and illustrious career in the industry. He became the youngest-ever Creative Director at Clarion at age 24. He was VP at 26 at Trikaya Grey. Two years later, he started his agency Equus.

He writes for publications such as The Economic Times, Hindustan Times and India Today. This is his second book and he has previously published THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

e4m Staff Disney Star has signed nine broadcast and digital streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Wild Stone and Thums Up have come on board for the upcoming tournament.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Disney Star has sought Rs 26 crore for the co-presenting sponsorship on TV and Rs 30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar.

According to industry sources, the associate sponsorship on Star Sports has been priced at Rs 19.66 crore, whereas for the ‘powered by’ sponsorship on Disney+ Hotstar, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 18 crore.

As per the information available with exchange4media, Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship tiers-- co-presenting (Rs 30 crore), powered by (Rs 18 crore) and associate sponsorship (Rs 12 crore). The broadcaster is offering an estimated reach of 120-140 million for co-presenting sponsors, 90-100 million for powered by and 60-70 million for associate sponsorship.

A spot buy for 10 seconds has been priced at Rs 25 lakh for the India vs Pakistan matches, while for the non-India matches, the ad rate for 10 second is Rs 2.3 lakh. The India matches plus the final for ODIs has been priced at Rs 17 lakh per 10 seconds.

Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 30 August, 2023, to September 17, 2023.
