Mudra has effected top-level changes to strengthen its Mumbai team. Aniruddha ‘Onni’ Banerjee, who quit Everest Brand Solutions late last year as COO, is joining as President, Mudra Mumbai. Meanwhile, Jude Fernandes, President, Mudra Mumbai, is being elevated as Executive Director.
Banerjee will be reporting to Mudra Managing Director and CEO, Madhukar Kamath. He will be joining from February 1.
Commenting on Banerjee’s appointment, Kamath said, “Onni comes to us with an impeccable track record. I think he is an excellent advertising mind, a great account man and a terrific team leader. He is just the right guy to continue the good work Jude has done. I have great regard for Ani’s proven abilities in organisation building, and I’m sure he’ll revel in the challenge of taking Mudra Mumbai to the top.”
Banerjee said, “I am tremendously excited about the challenge of leading Mudra Mumbai. The agency already has an enviable roster of clients, and from what I hear, a couple of large ones are in the pipeline, and more importantly, great relationships with each one of them. I’ve been handed a healthy operation and good talent. I couldn’t ask for more!”
Meanwhile, Fernandes, who has been elevated as the Executive Director, has an experience of over 20 years in advertising, of which he has spent 14 years at Mudra. Over the last decade, he has played a key role in building Mudra Mumbai into a strong advertising operation which now boasts of clients like Godrej Group, LIC, Pantaloon Group, SBI, Philips, Air India, HPCL, MTDC, Johnson & Johnson and Reliance ADAG, among others.
Kamath had this to say about Fernandes’ new role, “Jude has been a source of great strength for the Mudra Group. He is our rock and a true leader. His promotion is recognition of his fabulous work over the years, particularly as the Head of Mudra Mumbai. It is also a statement of our aggressive growth plans, we need talent of his quality to help us define the Group’s strategic direction, strengthen our offering to clients and improving our product.”
In a chain of events, when Rediffusion DY&R’s President, Preet Bedi, resigned in September last year, Mahesh Chauhan, Head of Everest Brand Solutions, was appointed as the new President of Rediffusion. Shortly thereafter, D Rajappa was appointed as President of Everest Brand Solutions, leading to Banerjee putting in his papers.
Banerjee was with Everest for two years. He played an important role in the rebranding of Everest Advertising as Everest Brand Solutions. Banerjee started his career with Contract from where he moved to Clarion (now known as Bates Enterprise) where he spent eight years. He has also worked for six years at Leo Burnett, quitting the agency as Executive Director. In 2004, he moved to Everest Brand Solutions as COO.
Some of the brands he has worked on during his 16-year career include Ariel, Tide, Whisper, Procter & Gamble, Godrej Pillsbury, Rejoice, Bajaj, Heinz India, Complan, Glucon-D, Goldflake and the Parle portfolio.
