JWT leads with 47 metals at #goafest2016, Taproot Dentsu second with 40 metals

Day 3 @ Goafest 2016 saw Abbys awarded for Film, Film Craft, Print, Integrated Marketing, Digital, Design, Ambient Media and Outdoor Advertising.

J Walter Thompson emerged the big winner at Goafest 2016. The agency won 47 metals in all, which included 5 Gold, 21 Silver, 21 Bronze metals. Taproot Dentsu ended its tally with 2 Gold, 19 Silver, 19 Bronze, taking their total metal tally to 40. Contract Advertising was third with 26 metals, which included 1 Gold, 9 Silver and 16 Bronze metals. The fourth place was a tie between DDB Mudra and Dentsu Creative Impact with 23 metals each.

The highest number of Gold metals was won by J Walter Thompson , followed by DDB Mudra with 4 gold metals. JWT won Golds for the following campaigns---- ‘Udaan’ for brand ‘Airtel’ (Brand Activation), Lux (PR), ‘MAMA’ for Godrej Dual Video Door Phone (Radio & Radio Craft), ‘Fountain of Eyesight’ for Eye Bank Centre (Ambient Media) as well as a Young Abby Gold.

In the Film Craft category, the leader was Earl Man Films, riding on the success of the highly popular Ambuja Cements campaign featuring The Great Khali. The agency won 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze metals.

In the Print category, two Golds were awarded. One was won by Contract Advertising for its series of ads for CCTV Cameras. The second Gold was for “Soccer” by Dentsu Creative Impact.

The Film category also saw 2 Golds; DDB Mudra for the “Ode to the Bug” campaign for Volkswagen and Publicis Communications for “A Giant’s Story” for Ambuja Cements.

Integrated Marketing also saw two Golds; Publicis won again for “A Giant’s Story” while the second was for DDB Mudra’s “PahelikiSaheli” campaign for UNICEF.

The digital category saw 3 Gold metals. RK Swamy won for #helpthefarmer for skymetweather.com, DDB Mudra for Volkswagen’s ‘Ode to the Bug’ and Experience Commerce for #Pitchtoher for Lenovo.

McCann Worldgroup, Alok Nanda and Company, Publicis Communication and Out of The Box were the Gold winners in the Design category. JWT won the solitary Gold in the Ambient Media category for “Fountain of Sight”.

There were no Gold winners in the OOH category.

This year the Goafest 2016 introduced a new award recognition, which stands between a Gold and the Grand Prix, called ‘Best in Category’. The winner was the campaign the highly popular “A Giant’s Story campaign featuring The Great Khali for Ambuja Cement by Publicis Communications.

There was no Grand Prix awarded this year. This year also saw a new sub category introduced for gender sensitive work. Anouk (Myntra)’ ‘The Calling’ by Hectic Content won the Gold metal in this category. Contract Advertising won the Silver for Truly Madly’s ‘#BoyBrowsing’.

Another new category this year was the Young Abby, which was open only for participants under the age of 35. The winner in this category was JWT (Gurgaon) for their campaign ‘Question, Kidding, Old Fashioned’. Team JWT comprised of BodhisatvaDasgupta and Nitish Shah.

Advertising professional and art collector Swapan Seth has announced the launch of his new book COOL. The book is described as "a ready reckoner to the hip and the happening, of the known and the very unknown."

The book is a reflection of the author's "eclectic taste across categories: from boltholes to exotic hideaways."

COOL has been published by Simon & Schuster India and is available on Amazon.

Seth is an ad veteran with a long and illustrious career in the industry. He became the youngest-ever Creative Director at Clarion at age 24. He was VP at 26 at Trikaya Grey. Two years later, he started his agency Equus.

He writes for publications such as The Economic Times, Hindustan Times and India Today. This is his second book and he has previously published THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

e4m Staff Disney Star has signed nine broadcast and digital streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Wild Stone and Thums Up have come on board for the upcoming tournament.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Disney Star has sought Rs 26 crore for the co-presenting sponsorship on TV and Rs 30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar.

According to industry sources, the associate sponsorship on Star Sports has been priced at Rs 19.66 crore, whereas for the ‘powered by’ sponsorship on Disney+ Hotstar, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 18 crore.

As per the information available with exchange4media, Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship tiers-- co-presenting (Rs 30 crore), powered by (Rs 18 crore) and associate sponsorship (Rs 12 crore). The broadcaster is offering an estimated reach of 120-140 million for co-presenting sponsors, 90-100 million for powered by and 60-70 million for associate sponsorship.

A spot buy for 10 seconds has been priced at Rs 25 lakh for the India vs Pakistan matches, while for the non-India matches, the ad rate for 10 second is Rs 2.3 lakh. The India matches plus the final for ODIs has been priced at Rs 17 lakh per 10 seconds.

Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 30 August, 2023, to September 17, 2023.
