GoaFest 2012: Creative Abbys finalists announced

The GoaFest 2012 Committee has announced the finalists for Ambient, Design, Direct, Film Craft, and Film categories of Creative Abbys. Finalists for the other categories are expected to be announced soon.

This is the first time that the GoaFest Committee has released the list of finalists merely two days before the award ceremony. Talking to exchange4media on the reason behind the delay, Arvind Sharma, Chairman, GoaFest 2012 said, “A lot of this is consultative process with the creative fraternity. When we met with over 40 creative directors, which is really the creative leadership of the industry, their view on basis of last year’s experience was that putting up shortlists brings unhealthy mentality into place. When you release shortlists early, you give three weeks’ time to people to put down the rival’s work. This does not happen only in India but everywhere around the world in peer awards. It was after a lot of pressure from the media that we decided that we will put out the list of finalists.”

The finalists:

Ambient category:
Ambient category has eight finalists. Ogilvy India leads with three entries – Cancer Patients Aid Association, Perfetti Van Melle and Vodafone. Contract Advertising has two entries – Cadbury Celebrations and Vladivar.
