EMVIES 2008 shortlist announced; 53 case studies to compete

Shortlists for the EMVIES 2008 have been announced. A total of 53 case studies have been shortlisted out of the 452 entries received, two short of the 55 case studies that were short-listed in 2007. MindShare leads the list with 21 entries making it to the shortlist. The final round of judging would be held on July 21 and 22 in Mumbai. The EMVIES 2008 would be presented on Monday, July 28, in Mumbai.

EMVIES 2008 shortlist announced; 53 case studies to compete

Shortlists for the EMVIES 2008 have been announced. A total of 53 case studies have been shortlisted out of the 452 entries received, two short of the 55 case studies that were short-listed in 2007. MindShare leads the list with 21 entries making it to the shortlist. The final round of judging would be held on July 21 and 22 in Mumbai. The EMVIES 2008 would be presented on Monday, July 28, in Mumbai.

Following MindShare are Lodestar and Maxus, who have seven shortlists each. However, agencies like Madison, Ogilvy, and Rediffusion DYR couldn’t manage even five shortlists. All this raises a question – Is the EMVIES becoming a cakewalk for the two arch rivals or are other agencies facing a dearth of talent in media? This and other such questions could be the talking points this year.

Following are the details of the shortlisted entries:

In the category of Best Media Innovation: Ambient Media/OOH, the entries that have been shorlisted are Kurkure – India’s First Brand Train - Kurkure Express; Juice Salon - Juice Escalator; and Lifebuoy Soap - Lifebuoy Gurudwara Activation.

For the category of Media Innovation in Cinema: Nivea Soft Moisturizer - Stay Simply Beautiful; GoodYear - Tara Rum Pum (TRRP) Association; Castrol GTX - Castrol GTX Drives Bollywood; and Reebok - Reebok Hitting the Winning Goal have made it into the final judging round.

For the category of Best Media Innovation: Digital, the entries that have been shortlisted are BRU Cappuccino - One is not enough; Big 92.7 FM - Voice Scrapping; HSBC Premier Re-Launch - The new HSBC Premier Mobile Handset; and Cadbury Dairy Milk - A Twist in the story.

Best Media Innovation, Direct marketing includes- Kaya Skin Clinic - Painless Hair Removal; Reliance Systematic Investment Plan - SIP Retail Plan; Brufen Softra - The art of writing; and Asian Paints - Cinderella-Glow in dark paint.

For Best Media Innovation in Events: Hercules Cycle - Mumbai-Pune Cycle Race; Wheel - Phir Se Khoj Jaari Hai; Lifebuoy - Mission Safai; and Chivas Regal - "Chivas" Effectively reaches out to 8MN Core consumers have made it to the final round.

For Best Media Innovation in Print: the entries that made it to the final judging round are - Kurkure - Kurkure with a difference; AXE Deodorant - Check Mate-'S'; Rin Supreme Bar: Now Becomes Surf Excel Bar - Good News; and Axis Bank - Everything is the same except one change.

Tata Indica Xeta Peppy - RJ Test Drive; Vodafone - Song Tagging-From Exposure to Revenue; McDonald's Home Delivery - McDelivery-Breakfast with Malishka & Nitin; and Saffola (World Heart Day) - Radio Mumbai-Bringing Mumbai together have made it to the second round for Best Media Innovation in Radio.

For Best Media Innovation in TV, the entries to watch out for would be Reliance Power IPO - Reliance Power On, India On; Parle Hide & Seek - Who can dance the Hide-n-Seek dance?; Venus Water Heaters - The heat is on…. ; Wheel - Wheel Smart Shrimati Ke Nuske; and Vodafone - Even God took 7 days to create earth.

Best Media Research include: Motorola - Live 3.0, The Mobile Store - 2008-09 expansion plans in terms of retail outlets; English Premiere League - The Engagement Quotient Tester; and Westside Index - A guide to Business expansion for Trent Ltd.

In the category of Best Integrated Campaign: ENO; Dove Haircare; Club Mahindra; and Vodafone will fight it out in this category.

In the Best Media Strategy for Consumer Products: Rin Supreme Bar; Dove Haircare; Amul; and Clinic Plus have made it to the shortlist.

For Best Media Strategy in Consumer Durables, the shortlisted entries are Motorola and Microsoft Windows Vista.

For Best Media Strategy in Services, the shortlisted entries include HSBC Corporate; Tata Tele Services; Tata Sky; and Vodafone.

The category of Media Strategy in Media/ Media Property will see a fight between Red FM; English Premiere League; and Star Movies.

Advertising professional and art collector Swapan Seth has announced the launch of his new book COOL. The book is described as "a ready reckoner to the hip and the happening, of the known and the very unknown."

The book is a reflection of the author's "eclectic taste across categories: from boltholes to exotic hideaways."

COOL has been published by Simon & Schuster India and is available on Amazon.

Seth is an ad veteran with a long and illustrious career in the industry. He became the youngest-ever Creative Director at Clarion at age 24. He was VP at 26 at Trikaya Grey. Two years later, he started his agency Equus.

He writes for publications such as The Economic Times, Hindustan Times and India Today. This is his second book and he has previously published THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

e4m Staff Disney Star has signed nine broadcast and digital streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Wild Stone and Thums Up have come on board for the upcoming tournament.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Disney Star has sought Rs 26 crore for the co-presenting sponsorship on TV and Rs 30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar.

According to industry sources, the associate sponsorship on Star Sports has been priced at Rs 19.66 crore, whereas for the ‘powered by’ sponsorship on Disney+ Hotstar, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 18 crore.

As per the information available with exchange4media, Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship tiers-- co-presenting (Rs 30 crore), powered by (Rs 18 crore) and associate sponsorship (Rs 12 crore). The broadcaster is offering an estimated reach of 120-140 million for co-presenting sponsors, 90-100 million for powered by and 60-70 million for associate sponsorship.

A spot buy for 10 seconds has been priced at Rs 25 lakh for the India vs Pakistan matches, while for the non-India matches, the ad rate for 10 second is Rs 2.3 lakh. The India matches plus the final for ODIs has been priced at Rs 17 lakh per 10 seconds.

Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 30 August, 2023, to September 17, 2023.
