Bates 141 Delhi beefs up top team; brings in Jayanto Banerjee, Suchitra Gahlot, Nitin Suri

Bates 141 Delhi has recently strengthened its top team with three key appointments. Jayanto Banerjee has joined Bates 141 as Executive Vice President, while Suchitra Gahlot has joined as Executive Creative Director. Nitin Suri has come on board as ECD, Bates 141.

At Bates 141, Banerjee will be responsible for overseeing work on the agency’s growing portfolio of brands in Delhi and other special projects. Prior to joining the agency, Banerjee was General Manager at Euro RSCG, Dubai. Better known as Banjo, Banerjee has spent the last 13 years with Euro RSCG in India and the Middle East. Before taking over as Head of Euro RSCG Dubai, he was the Strategic Planning Director for the Middle East Network, supporting six offices in the region. He is an MBA from Mumbai’s Jamnalal Bajaj Institute.

Suri has 15 years’ experience in the industry. He began his career with Interact Vision before joining Rediffusion DY&R (now Y&R), where he spent 11 years and had workd on brands like Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, Lufthansa, GPI, PVR Cinemas and clothing Brand for women W. For most of his time at Rediffusion, he was Creative Director for Airtel. After Rediffusion, he joined Dentsu Marcom as ECD, where he spent three years, before joining Bates 141 Delhi as ECD and Creative Head.

Gahlot’s last stint was with Ogilvy RedCard in Singapore, where she was Head of Copy and had handled the creative duties for brands such as BBC World, The Economist and Durex. She spent her early years at Contract Delhi before joining Ogilvy. She has several accolades to her credit – bringing in one of India’s first D&ADs early in her career and continuing her success at Ogilvy with several One Show Pencils and a Gold Lion for her work on Discovery. In Singapore, the streak continued with her work on Panadol and The Economist making it to the One Show, D&AD and Cannes. During the course of her career, she has handled several brands, including Hindustan Times, Blender’s Pride, Red FM, NIIT, Hutch, The Economist and BBC World, among others.

On his new role, Banerjee said, “I am a part of the positive change at Bates 141. I am beefing up the creative team in Delhi. We are on the same wavelength and platform. We are still looking for a senior planner and few other appointments at the senior level.”

Speaking on his vision for the agency, Banerjee said, “Bates has a very unique position of China and India being the focus. Both in terms of attention focus and investment, it is a great place to be in and that’s where the growth is happening. The perspectives are changing. We are geared to handle the growth.”

“The Delhi market is exciting. There are more multinationals entering Delhi than Mumbai. We are going to attract a few more companies. It is a great market for advertising,” he added.

Banerjee further said, “Bates 141 Delhi is a great team. It just needs a focus and direction on where we want to head. It’s a great idea to do sparkling work. We have international exposure and expertise. Regional Creative Director, Asia Pacific, and Chairman India, Sonal Dabral’s commitment to Bates is great. The whole focus is on quality. There is a lot of investment on research and use of new tools.”
