APAC Effie Awards 2016 announces Nagesh Alai, Richard Murphy, Sandeep Seth as new Heads of Jury
Asia Pacific Effie Awards has announced the names of three more Heads of Jury for the 2016 Awards. The new members are: Nagesh Alai, Vice Chairman, Global of FCB Worldwide, Richard Murphy, CVP Digital, Growth & Foundation Markets of McDonalds, and Sandeep Seth, Brand Director, Global of SK-II (P&G). This completes the Heads of Jury line-up for the 2016 Awards

Asia Pacific Effie Awards has announced the names of three more Heads of Jury for the 2016 Awards. The new members are: Nagesh Alai, Vice Chairman, Global of FCB Worldwide, Richard Murphy, CVP Digital, Growth & Foundation Markets of McDonalds, and Sandeep Seth, Brand Director, Global of SK-II (P&G). This completes the Heads of Jury line-up for the 2016 Awards.
Alai has been part of the APAC Effie Jury for the past two years and is currently a member of the APAC Effie Committee. A key force behind the Group’s sound fundamentals & success, Alai has been with FCB Ulka Group for 25 years now. Between 2006 and 2011, FCB Worldwide handed over to Alai the finance and operational responsibilities of Asia Pacific & Africa region, and prior to his recent assignment, he was the Group Chairman of FCB Ulka Group in India.
Commenting on his appointment, Alai said: “Advertising is all about creating awareness about a brand and triggering a behavioural change in the consumer. Effies platform recognises this truism. Hence, it's an honour to be associated with APAC Effies it as a Head of Jury and help in selecting the best of the best advertising in the region.”
Murphy has been ‘in digital’ since 1999 when he helped found and grow a dot com start-up, but he actually started his working life as a Food Scientist & buyer for Tesco Stores in the UK. Throughout his career he has experience in digital brand-building, direct marketing to drive revenue and has developed and delivered new digital experiences for Prudential, GE, British Telecom. Most recently with Nokia & Microsoft, he led the global e-Commerce team and the integration of the digital teams, infrastructure and ways of working into the Microsoft fold.
“I am delighted to be invited as a Head of Jury for APAC Effie. Effectiveness is the core of the advertising business and what we strive to achieve. I’m glad to play a part in Effies in championing marketing effectiveness and am excited to see the great works from the region,” Murphy commented.
Seth is Brand Director, Global of SK-II, a prestige beauty brand of P&G. With almost two decades of marketing experience across 9 countries in APAC and Greater China, and a deep expertise in the Beauty and Prestige industry. Under his leadership, he has transformed the entire SK-II organization to be a truly forward thinking brand that understands the benefit of digital first collaborations and experimentations, resulting to industry recognized campaigns such as Change Destiny and Beauty Bound. He is passionate about brand-building in the new world, and is also now leading P&G Asia’s marketing talent rejuvenation movement.
Prior to this, Seth’s career in P&G has been in New Business Development and White Space Expansions, having led the launch of the Olay business across the region (Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and India) since 2001.
Speaking about his selection as the Jury member Seth said, “I feel extremely honoured to be on a Head of Jury for APAC Effie. Brands and advertising is a huge passion area. We are in a new era of advertising as the digital revolution has completely transformed how brands and consumers interact. It is an exciting time and I am looking forward to be inspired by the great work that everyone has been leading in the industry.”

Advertising professional and art collector Swapan Seth has announced the launch of his new book COOL. The book is described as "a ready reckoner to the hip and the happening, of the known and the very unknown."
The book is a reflection of the author's "eclectic taste across categories: from boltholes to exotic hideaways."
COOL has been published by Simon & Schuster India and is available on Amazon.
Seth is an ad veteran with a long and illustrious career in the industry. He became the youngest-ever Creative Director at Clarion at age 24. He was VP at 26 at Trikaya Grey. Two years later, he started his agency Equus.
He writes for publications such as The Economic Times, Hindustan Times and India Today. This is his second book and he has previously published THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

Disney Star signs 9 sponsors for Asia Cup PAK

e4m Staff Disney Star has signed nine broadcast and digital streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup.
Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Wild Stone and Thums Up have come on board for the upcoming tournament.
As reported earlier by exchange4media, Disney Star has sought Rs 26 crore for the co-presenting sponsorship on TV and Rs 30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar.
According to industry sources, the associate sponsorship on Star Sports has been priced at Rs 19.66 crore, whereas for the ‘powered by’ sponsorship on Disney+ Hotstar, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 18 crore.
As per the information available with exchange4media, Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship tiers-- co-presenting (Rs 30 crore), powered by (Rs 18 crore) and associate sponsorship (Rs 12 crore). The broadcaster is offering an estimated reach of 120-140 million for co-presenting sponsors, 90-100 million for powered by and 60-70 million for associate sponsorship.
A spot buy for 10 seconds has been priced at Rs 25 lakh for the India vs Pakistan matches, while for the non-India matches, the ad rate for 10 second is Rs 2.3 lakh. The India matches plus the final for ODIs has been priced at Rs 17 lakh per 10 seconds.
Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 30 August, 2023, to September 17, 2023.
