The public broadcaster has begun airing this all new prime time serial on DD National from July 14, 2009.

New Delhi-based herbal cosmetics company, Ayur Group, is all set to launch a 24-hour, free-to-air, bilingual information and awareness channel, Ayur Living India. The channel would be launched through Ayur Group’s broadcast arm, Vintage Studio Private Limited. According to channel officials, the cost outlay of the channel is in the vicinity of Rs 25 crore, and it would become operational by the June-end or early July, 2009.

In a bid to emerge as a key player in the regional news domain, Sadhna News, part of Sadhna Media, is planning to launch three regional news channels this year. Company officials informed exchange4media that this includes UP-Uttrakhand, Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. The expansion plans also include a national news channel by 2010.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has empanelled four advertising companies - Crayons Advertising, Planet Advertising, Prabhatam Advertising and Concept Advertising - to carry out its proposed Rs 100 crore outdoor campaign for the year 2009-10. It is learnt that BSNL had received tenders for the business from 13 agencies.

Chauthi Duniya, a Hindi weekly broadsheet, is being revived after a gap of 17 years. The Sunday paper that had closed down in 1992 after a six-year run is making a comeback in its new avatar on March 29. Chauthi Duniya is being launched by Ankush Publications, a subsidiary of infrastructure company Gannon Dunkerley.

Doordarshan is launching a new talent based realty show, ‘Fair & Lovely Choo Lo Asman’, produced by Endemol, from March 25. The 26-part primetime show will be aired on Wednesdays at 10 pm. The realty show, in which Doordarshan is a co-producer, will feature 24 young women vying with each other for top honours.

The Sunday broadsheet is being relaunched by Antriksh Publication, also runs a daily, ‘Afternoon’, from Mumbai. The group is also planning to launch a Delhi edition of ‘Afternoon’ in the coming year.

Delhi-based Sadhna News, which runs a Madhya Pradesh-Chattisgarh centric 24-hour Hindi news channel, is set to launch another regional news channel in Hindi centered on Bihar-Jharkhand on December 20. This will be the third Bihar-centric channel after Sahara Samay Bihar and ETV Bihar.

Anindo Chakravarty has been promoted as Managing Editor of NDTV India. This key post had been lying vacant ever since the last incumbent, Dibang, had stepped down in August last year. Prior to this elevation, Chakravarty was Executive Editor, NDTV Profit.
